Something should have done a long time ago; lawns don’t belong in the middle of a dessert.
But for the love of Gawd, don’t try to grow any FOOD on your property, or they’ll burn your house down!
Morons. Less Lawn. More Food.
This must happen every few decades. I remember an old friend in SoCal painting his yard back then....
I have rural north central Texas land where I’m building my house. My lawn is a 30 acre hay field.
This is extremely common now in SoCal. Nearly all commercial business’s landscapes are draught resistant. As well as many private homes.
Don’t tell anyone, but there are people in the Sausalito (S.F. Bay) area spray painting their lawns to keep them green. From a distance of driving through the neighborhood, you WOULD be fooled. Can you blame them? The Home Owners Associations around here are going Batty with their power struggles even during this drought.
The average person uses 100 gallons of water a day:

There are as many as 30 MILLION + illegal aliens in the US
so.... 30,000,000 X 100 gallons = 3 billion gallons of fresh water consumed per DAY by illegal aliens.
365 days in a year X 3 billion = 1.095 TRILLION gallons of water a year.
AstroTurf.
They wouldn’t have to cut down on water use if they’d kick out the illegals.
If you want a lawn of carpet grass, move to St Augustine-as in Florida, where that stuff comes from...
Intelligent people in some cities here figured that out 20-30 years ago-the water companies gave a rebate for native plantings. Here in the boonies, where your water comes from either your own or a shared communal well, nobody wastes water on yards anyway-you cultivate the native stuff, which is drought tolerant and very attractive. If the plant needs extra water, it is in a pot on the patio or deck...
I tore out my lawn to cope with yard work.
Who would rather manicure their lawn than go fishing?
“As California faces an historic drought, “
All in the name of a delta smelt.....Enjoy your thirst Cali liberals.
