School children in Elyria, Ohio are mourning the demise of a 40-year tradition the loss of their beloved pink cookie. The fabled cookie, long served in local school cafeterias, was done in by a pound of butter, six cups of powdered sugar and the Obama administrations food police. [ ]
The USDA Smart Snacks in School standards mandate that all snacks must contain less than 200 calories. Its not exactly clear how many calories are in the pink cookie, but the recipe for the frosting calls for a pound of butter.
The cookie was banished to comply with the federal guidelines.
We cant have them in the cafeteria for sale, period, food services director Scott Teaman told The Chronicle Telegram. The guidelines for snacks are very strict, and there is no wiggle room.

If you like your pink cookies, you can keep your pink cookies, period.
Replace the butter with rancid phytoestrogen-rich, Monsanto patented soybeans... and everything with be just fine.
carbs, and “no-fat”.
You know what, if I ran that school district, I’d just tell the feds to “flake off” (although I’d use another word). Somebody, somewhere has to do it.
MOOschelle who has an ass as wide as a sofa should have no say what other people eat. An unelected POS.
a pound of butter for how big a batch?
What?!! You mean there are people who have eaten those cookies 40 years ago and they're still alive???!!!!
Another thing I’m tired of is seeing food handlers wearing plastic gloves. How are they any more clean than washed hands?
Why do the Feds have a say in what local schools serve as lunches and snacks, anyway?
When one deals with the Federal government there are always, in all ways, strings attached.
In this instance it derives from the school districts receiving aid for their breakfast/lunch programs. Schools receive government reimbursements for serving the 'free' breakfast/lunches to those in need. The Government also provides free food commodities in the form of cheese/dairy/grains..etc
Appears many school district are extremely dependent on this financial arrangement for their school nutrition program remaining solvent. Or perhaps, if recent numerous articles regarding school lunch programs are to be believed, times are a'changing. News of school district losing tens upon tens of thousands of dollars due to the revised, reformulated, recalculated Government mandated lunch offerings no longer being purchased by students.
There are current situations wherein school districts are now forgoing Gov dollars, exiting the 'Gov' lunch programs...simply stating they can no longer afford the losses in lunch revenue.
Therefore some schools are no longer receiving or more truthful, refusing financial reimbursements, refusing gov food commodities. Certainly their revenue will take a hit. But it appears it may be worth it to rid themselves of Michelle's overbearing, hypocritical dictates on how we are to act/eat/think. Those schools now possess the ability to provide their own menus, own diets, own snacks.
Dealing with the Government...one has to remember the old adage...
when sleeping with dogs, you'll get fleas.
I will bet you that 40 years ago kids ate this pink cookie and did not get fat. And 30 years ago. And 20. What changed?
Hmmmmmmm....let's brainstorm...
No recess,
no gym,
no fats,
structured play time,
processed foods
HFCS,
carbs,
computers/texting,
no family dinners,
fast foods,
helicopter parents,
no nutritional knowledge,
food advertising,
wimp parents/spoiled children,
yet another reason I’m glad I went finished highschool in the 90’s. The school had delicious cinnabuns...no one checked our lunch brought from home!
Excellent! Thanks!
It's right there in the 214th amendment.
As a food handler, I wear rubber gloves and a hairnet at all times. It is the perspiration from the hands and bacteria under the finger nails that is the problem. The hair collects stuff
Stop taking that Federal money....
No cookies for you....but here and eat this Tofu and be happy.
It began with television. Now we have an entertainment based, sedentary lifestyle. Plus no one cooks from fresh anymore, so that we can watch more cable.
That's not evolution, it's just really FUGLY.
