If they couldn’t get it right the first time, why would I think they know now?

Neanderthals are our closest known extinct relatives, with about 99.5% of DNA in common with humans If they were able to interbreed with the newcomers from Africa then they were not a different species, they were just another race of human.

But would Laz have hit it? Someone had to interbreed.....

Well, surprise, surprise, surprise.
Also, when estimating the contribution of neanderthals to the modern European genome, if 99.5% of genes are the same, what’s to say the contribution wasn’t larger than reported?

Neanderthals were 100% human but had the disease of rickets which accounts for their posture. (Maybe this has changed since the late 60’s)

“Neanderthals originally emerged from Africa...”
I don’t see how this is possible. Did they all leave, leaving the continent completely before the negroes moved in ?

why we triumphed while the better adapted and similarly intelligent Neanderthals were killed off by their enemies.

Makes me want to search my bookcases to find “Clan of the Cave Bear” for another read, as the last time was probably 15-20 years ago.

Lets suppose that Neanderthals were faced with the following choices because of the larger number of an invading species:
1. devolve with chimpanzees, back to the past
2. status quo—declining numbers and constested area.
3. Ayla. “Goodbye Mog, I love ya, but this looks like the fun ride.”
Now these guys had a bigger brain than we do today so IMHO the overwhelming choice would be to get into that loooonng line for Ayla.

A new study concludes that modern humans arrived in Europe much earlier than previously believed
And before that, there were only muslims.
