Six is minimal under the circumstances and if he had more rounds at his immediate disposal then he displayed good discipline by ceasing fire when the threat was ended.
If the guy just blinded me in one eye and he turns around and charges -
I’m not stopping until he’s no longer charging or the slide locks back and I have to take evasive action.
My guess is Wilson had his local police issue weapon, usually a Glock...I don’t know, it hasn’t said in any of articles I read what weapon the officer carried...even when discussing that Brown and Johnson tried to take it from him in first fight, when Brown hit him injuring his eye socket supposedly.
?? Officer gun, anyone know?
I believe Wilson knew he could lose his gun (death sentence) if Brown did not go down before he reached the officer. Don’t forget the Weisel Johnson hiding behind the car, who was Brown’s partner in crime. He would have chimed in if Brown had attacked Wilson.
So yes, if he had more shots and only used six, that was restraint.
So true. My son and a friend were accosted by a robber back in the ‘90s. The friend died and my son was shot in the chin while fighting the guy.
Later, the robber (while on foot) ran into the police working an accident and started shooting. The police officers (two) emptied their 9mm semis at him... 32 shots... and hit him twice. No trial needed, thank God.
