Summer to me means three things: heat, hemlines and hard hats.
Its the time of year when I can parade around in a skimpy dress with strategic cutouts that would make my mom wince.
And when I know Im looking good, I brazenly walk past a construction site, anticipating that whistle and Hey, mama! catcall. Works every time my ego and I cant fit through the door!
Ill never forget my first time: At age 20, interning at MTV in Times Square and taking advantage of the companys liberal summer dress policy, I was wearing a tightly molded pink tank top and black capris when I strolled by two construction guys on a lunch break.
Youre hot! they shouted, high-fiving one another. I was over the moon. What a contrast from those coy college boys who never expressed how they felt. This was a brave new world, where guys tell it like they see it. Now, a decade later, I still get that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling whenever I walk past a construction stronghold. Ive learned that its not what you wear the skimpy sundresses, the sky-high heels but how.
Walking confidently past a mass of men, making eye contact and flashing a smile shows you as you are: self-possessed and playful. The wolf whistles that follow will send your ego soaring.
I realize most women with healthy self-confidence dont court unwanted male attention. In fact, most women seem to hate it.

She might not need their input, but they have a First Amendment right to speak their opinions.
That level of poor taste ought to at least earn the equivalent of a parking ticket. Topless is NOT a good look for her.
As I said above, she’s reasonably cute. I could find her a nice outfit at Target or Maurice’s with no trouble.
Just trying to be “nice”, ladies!
Yes, spaghetti straps and a fitted bodice with a poufy little skirt would have been a plus for her. A little tanning lotion and she would have looked 100% better. Plus the material in that dress was horrendous. Cotton dresses for summer are the best.
go pound sand ,bucko!!!!
it’s still rude to comment on someone’s appearance, good or bad.
I thought what she had on was a top and shorts. She definitely needed something with straps (and a foundation garment!).
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being pale, but she’s got bathing-suit lines.
Younger generation females should lighten up. Part of the fun of male-female relationships used to be that men do stupid things to attract women.
Come on down to Texas! Football doesn't start for another two weeks! lol
I enjoy her and Bogie’s talk on horse racing. I must have seen the movie on TV a half dozen times before it dawned on me that THEY WEREN’T TALKING ABOUT HORSES!
My favorite summer time song is “Summertime Girls” by the band Y&T
Absolutely the ONLY thing worse than catcalls.... when you are my age and you no longer get them! I miss those days when men found me attractive! It is a complement!
Sun?? ever heard of skin cancer? wrinkles? Sun damage? a long time ago I worked out at a local gym where we were ladies of all ages. The elderly gals would walk right out of the shower in the nude. I noticed that the skin that had never been in the sun, was like baby skin. the face and arms were wrinkled, like leather. But the torso was smooth as a baby butt. I think it is the sun that ages us.
Absolutely correct but a gentleman treats a woman like a lady whether she is one or not.
The effects of the sun haven't aged me a bit. That's been accomplished, thanks to my 3 kids. ;)
LOL!
I believe that a woman is treated as a lady if she earns it. The same applies to gentlemen, by the way.
