After years and years of hosting Thanksgiving for friends and family, I am on my own this year. My friends are either overseas or have moved out of the area, or have moved to live near their children, and my children are scattered. I have no family. So I am on my own.
I am looking for ideas for something to do on Thanksgiving, some place to go. I am considering Montreal, Asheville, etc. I live in the Northeast, and would have about 2K to spend. I am not fond of large cities, would love to do something fun, and something that would not be considered unusual when done alone. I also realize the issue of how difficult Thanksgiving travel is.
I have been wracking my brain for a couple of weeks. Does anyone one have any ideas? I could use some help here.
Thanks.
Your favorite soup.

Do you ski?
Grab a Jet Blue orSpirit flight to Florida, go to Key West. Instead of turkey, enjoy conch fritters, key lime pie and umbrella drinks.
No, I used to Nordic ski, haven’t in years. It would be fun though, wouldn’t it?
Virgin Islands. It will be total change of scenery, weather, etc ..you won’t “miss” Thanksgiving per se. One of my best ever was in St. Thomas.
Great mind think alike .see post 5...
serve turkey soup to down and outers in a soup kitchen?
Blacksburg, Va.
Cabin in the Smokies...most have hot tubs for relaxation...then you could take a day trip over to Asheville.
Would that be a place a single older woman would be welcome? I am not looking for attention just to be alright.
take a cruise they feed you like it is thanksgiving every
day
If u are considering Montreal, I would very strongly suggest that you instead consider Quebec City, which is totally unlike any city I have been to in North America —cute, quaint Europe, without the high cost and attitude.

__________
Any particular area?
Check out the local VFW Hall, Americab Legion Hall, Salvation Army site, ...
There are Thanksgiving cruises for singles.

I would like to get away from clients.
Key west IF you like bikini clad girls with a MAN’S voice.
Miami if you like d-rat cesspools.
Orlando is nice.
I donate my time to my church which serves take out meals for around 800 and sit down meals for around 200.
I also lead the crew that takes all those telephone calls for the takeout meals.
Find a church who does something like this and volunteer. You’ll feel so good at the end of the day.
Why do you recommend Blacksburg VA?
