No See Um Vanity: How do I get rid of the itch?
Posted on 08/15/2014 7:31:00 PM PDT by goodwithagun
We left the beach early Tuesday morning, but my no see um bites are still very present and still very itchy. I accidentally sliced a couple of them off of my legs while shaving. I'm requesting from the best folks I know: How do I stop the itch?

Tried it. No relief! I’m wondering if I’m allergic to the little buggers.

Benedryl in pill form and hair dryer on the bites...heat makes the itch go away.
Worse than noseeums are the flying midges.
Good luck...I’m highly allergic too.

I hope you’re kidding. If not... praying for you that you find other subjects worth your attention rather than a couple of bug bites. Goodness! People are losing their heads and our country is going to hell.

I read on some random site to dip a cotton swab into boiling water, and then immediately touch the swab to a bite. I have a Pyrex cup in the microwave now. This could be interesting!

One might make the same comment regarding your choice to read this thread and enlighten us with your better-than-thou-art mantra. In other words, lighten up Francis.

Hot water, the hottest you can stand without scalding yourself. Get in the shower and run it over the bites for several minutes. Itching will stop and once you stop scratching should clear it up.

There is a product called “Chiggerex” that works very well on insect and chigger bites. I have bought it at Walmart and drug stores.

My Step-Grandmother was a witch with home cures. She always used Witch hazel on bug bites. It could be amazing how the itch would be reduced.
Good thing, because biting blood suckers just love me.
