Humans have spent centuries advancing technology to the point where some jobs have been completely taken over by less expensive robots. In the future, technology will take over more and more sectors until there's nothing left. What will humans do then?

Higher level robot control is easily imaginable (Oh, like, say, attack Islamists until totally gone....)

I’ll come back to read that Slaughterhouse article later, after a good long drink. I know its something I should be aware of. Most of us forget how good we have it in the States. Even the diluted form of liberty here today is better than most other countries.

There's always the theme of “Terminator” where robots are hunting humans to extinction in a post holocaust world of the future.

I have pondered this same paradox for some time and I, like others, have not resolved it. What do humans do when they've become the obsolete species?

No it isn’t. Only in the movies.

The mechanical aspect of a robot can be reproduced on a robotic assembly line and the brains are reproduced by a simple copy and paste command.

The power source is not self-sustaining. No nasty coal-burning plants, then robots get too expensive to “live”.
