NASCAR star Tony Stewart hit and killed another driver who was walking on the track in a sprint car race on Saturday night.
The other driver, Kevin Ward Jr., had collided with Stewart on the previous lap, leaving Wards car with a flat tire and pushed into the wall. As officials threw a caution, Ward left his car and began walking down the track gesturing angrily toward Stewart before being clipped and dragged 50 feet by Stewarts car.
Several spectators told Bob Pockrass of The Sporting News that Stewart appeared to throttle his car before colliding with Ward.

I watched the video and didn’t see anything that proves intent.....victim made a very stupid move that led to his death....police say no criminal investigation at this point in time!!!!
Pretty dumbass move on a race track.
“Bad stuff. Looked like he wanted to scare the crapola out of him and he cut the scare too close.”
That’s how I see it. Tony made a little shift to the right (i.e, right at him) and then shifted back. Problem was he misjudged and didn’t shift back until after clocking him. Not a good a video if you’re Tony’s defense council.
Wearing a black suit at night...he could have also blended with his black car behind him, from Stewart’s perspective.
Most of the time people who make bonehead moves like that will get the chance when they grow up to look back on the folly of youth shake their head.
Sometimes they never grow up get that chance. Impulse behavior has it’s downside.
“I havent seen it before and I am on here a lot”
Me either, you’d think that people here had BETTER THINGS TO DO than COMPLAIN about multiple postings of a story. But it is Sunday morning and if that’s what they need to do to feel important, so be it.
Hopefully, some other camera angles will give us and the authorities more information. Even if found not at fault, this will damage Stuart.
Gees. The first car almost hit him then he moves even further down track for Tony who was behind that car. On dirt at night wearing black during a race.
I read that there was another car in front of Tony that pulled out so he wouldn’t hit the kid and all Smoke could do is turn left to avoid hitting him.
Here is the raw video from Live Link

What you see...
1) Tony Stewart is in car #14 while the other driver is car #13.
2) Both cars 14 and 13 are turning and 13 does a 180 and wrecks. The driver in Car 13 gets out and starts pointing at Tony Stewart in Car #14.
3) The camera thought is was Car #45 because the camera follows #45 briefly.
4) When the camera goes back to the driver on the track. That’s when you see Tony come right up on him and hit him.
5) It’s hard to tell from this angle, but if you look at Tony’s front two tires.... They are turning towards the guy and not away.
It’s looks deliberate from this point view, but I may be wrong?
...”that driver aimed and throttled at the guy on the track!”....
Sure looked that way to me as well.
Also it was a full moon last night. Some people do strange stuff during a full moon.
One might expect that tire angle on dirt as you turn into rear tire slide out as a normal means of racing at full speed on dirt.
“Tony made a little shift to the right”
Not to mention he throttles the engine as he goes by, IMO that was designed to intimidate and say F you, that may very well be something he cannot explain away.
I must have watched that video 50 times last night and I am pretty sure Tony did not even see him until the car in front of him slowed and turned down the track, if he let off the gas quickly the car would automatically veer right. I swear I can see him turn the wheel to the right after the front of the car passes Kevin Ward and he burps the gas trying to get the back of the car to spin away from Kevin, but its too late at that point. Its damn hard to spin a sprint car out to the right... All the cars went past about the same speed and line on the track and he kept walking down the track to where there was no room to get past him. Being a driver himself, he knows that car is not stopping on a dime... with Tony Stewart or any other driver driving it... I read numerous articles from every source I could find and one of the reports said that Tony had a go pro camera on his helmet... I think this would show exactly what Tony saw so hoping he did.
What video did you see as intent is not obvious from what I saw?
What about throttling the engine as he struck the other driver? Not sure there’s a good explanation for that other than attempt to intimidate.
Watching the video again.

The kid was almost hit by the car before Stewart. Stupid move.
Agree but it does not appear that’s happening. I’ll leave it to the experts.
