NASCAR star Tony Stewart hit and killed another driver who was walking on the track in a sprint car race on Saturday night.
The other driver, Kevin Ward Jr., had collided with Stewart on the previous lap, leaving Wards car with a flat tire and pushed into the wall. As officials threw a caution, Ward left his car and began walking down the track gesturing angrily toward Stewart before being clipped and dragged 50 feet by Stewarts car.
Several spectators told Bob Pockrass of The Sporting News that Stewart appeared to throttle his car before colliding with Ward.

Why was he doing 40mph and not 10-20mph especially when he could see what it happening in front of him.
So caution means you can jump out of your car and run down the racetrack?
lol
You don’t stop during a yellow. He probably didn’t know the kid was running down the track until about a second before he hit him. You can’t “swerve” in those cars, nor do you have time to turn, nor run off the track, nor stop in the 1-2 seconds he had available. Even a street car would be hard pressed to do anything on a dry concrete road. This track is mud.
Its obvious you don’t know anything about these cars, stop before you hurt yourself.
He was doing what everyone else was doing.
I’m done with ya.
I’m never surprised that the people that know the least about a subject have the most to say. Who was it that said it is better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are stupid then to say something and PROVE IT !
I agree with this 100%. For the fact Tony Stewart did NOT do this makes me say this was manslaughter at the least.
Are they even investigating this or are they passing this off as “that’s racing for ya.”
Someone died, they probably have to investigate that at least a little, instead of just waving it off.
or they oughtta be fired.
Stewart was clearly driving faster that the car immediately in front of him. Why wasn’t Stewart driving with that level of caution even moreso seeing the very guy you hit pointing you out and walking in your car’s direction?
The kid was PO’ed the professional Nascar guy clipped his a$$ vend and sent him into the wall wrecking his car and putting him out of the race. Getting out of the car was stupid, no doubt about it, but Stewart was only escalating the situation.
The track was dirt not mud... big difference.
1-2 seconds to react? Count off how many seconds it is when the kid is pointing him out until the time he is dead. That is PLENTY of time to avoid that area completely and once he sees the kid is coming towards his car, get the heck away as far as possible.
So the kid (a 20 yr old) could see Tonys car, because the kid was out of his car on a friggen race track jumping into traffic, and that means that everyone else should see the kid?
By that logic the fans int he stands could see the kid so Tony should saw him as well?
lol why are you people so deranged on this???
Deranged
Actually yes. Unless he has tunnel vision he should have seen him. I counted off 10 seconds from the time the kid leaves his car and is pointing out Tony Stewart. If they are only driving 30moh at that time, then that would be a LONG 10 seconds to be able to see a danger in front of you. If the track is a 1/2 mile track, so I’d say a quarter of a full circle track is 1/8 a mile and that is plenty of visibility in 1/8 of a mile. He should have seen the kid
should and did are different
how many other things were on the track for him to look at and avoid.
Don’t run around in traffic and you won’t get hurt. Its really that simple. Tragic the young man had to learn that the hard way.
If he could not see this kid on the track going about 30, he has no business driving a NASCAR. NASCAR goes much faster and objects or people come at you a lot faster and he has shown the ability to see pieces of car and stuff at close to 200 mph before.
Not that I have an opinion in the matter or anything. LOL
I hope there is a very very thorough investigation
Maybe he did, I doubt he expected the kid to jump out in front of him.
Either way there is an investigation but so far the authorities are indicating he wasn’t at fault. But who ya gonna trust, some internet troll basing his emotional challenges on a crappy video or law enforcement and race officials who are actually at the track.
hmmmmmmm
That is why I said I hope there is a thorough investigation
Well it appears you are getting your wish for a thorough investigation.
