Best commercial(s) of all time?
Posted on 08/09/2014 7:52:03 PM PDT by MNDude
We all see tens of thousands of commercials in our lifetime, but there's probably a few that really standout... Where's The Beef?, Apple's 1984, Mikey likes Life cereal, etc. What's your favorite commercial(s) of all time.

The 60s version wasn’t offensive either.

I remember that commercial! It was a funny poke at Soviet choice.

“Watch me, while I flick my BICK!” (cigarette lighter ad)
“He really got STROKED this morning!” (Disposable razor ad)
Innuendo ads ruled the air waves then.

According to a TV Guide article, it was just the car body on the top of that stone pillar. It was placed there in parts, a mechanic assembled it and crawled under the car for the shoot.
The wind then picked up, and the helicopter could not get close enough to lift it off so the model and the mechanic had to sleep that night in the car till the next day.
Nothing improper happened.

Speaking of Chrysler, Here's one from 1958 touting the new Push button Torqueflyte transmission. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but those buttons tended to come apart in the dash and could be a PITA to repair. Those Chrysler products undoubtedly inspired the song Pushbutton Automobile by the Medallions.

Anyone remember the LIVE COMMERCIAL with (I think) Betty Furness?
She is advertizing a refrigerator and when she pulls the handle the door fails to open. She pulls and pulls, then the camera goes in for a close up of her face and she continues to tell all the good things about the refrigerator, but you can HEAR a stage hand struggling to open the door. Then the camera moves out, and you can see the refrigerator with the door opened.

I thought there was also one for Welches Wine but I must be confusing it with their Welches frozen grape juice ad and a different Welches Wine ad.
