There’s plenty of bad news already coming over the transom today and we’ll get to all of it, but one story we’ve followed here has a happy ending. Meriam Yahia Ibrahim, the woman sentenced to death in Sudan for her Christian faith, has left Khartoum and landed in Rome, greeted by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi at the airport. Italy helped the US mediate her release with Sudanese officials in a quiet effort launched a few weeks ago:

I stated on a thread back when this issue first came up that this would be the eventual resolution. Was accused of being overly optimistic.

This the the FR. ANY optimism toward anything middle Eastern or Muslim is to be fiercely deflated. Our good five years in Saudi Arabia with ARAMCO are either ignored or thought of as simply an anomaly.

Excellent news! However,while she’s in Europe she’d better be very careful....the place is crawling with savages who’d love to kill her for being an “infidel”.

Her next challenge is to escape Europe with her head still attached to her shoulders.
She can, as MANY Christians do, wear a cross around her neck. If she wears a crucifix, then she will be labeled as a "Catholic."
MOST Europeans could care less. They really do have their own problems to deal with and really don't care that some stray foreigner wears a cross/crucifix around her neck.
As I've said before the Mexicans want MONEY, not their useless pesos but YANKEE DOLLARS, for their prisoner.
The right folks have to be BRIBED. I lived in Mexico City for two years when I was young and BRIBERY is the grease for moving EVERYthing.

Yes,most Europeans....probably *all* Europeans...could care less what her religion is.However not everyone *living* in Europe is "European" (if ya catch my drift).And a noticeable percentage of such individuals....well,you know.

Same exact thing happened to me. All of a sudden she popped into my mind, & I wondered why there had been no updates lately.

The "former colonies" want a better life so the Algerians want to live in France, the Jamaicans want to live in Britain and so on.
SOME European countries did little or no colonizing, SO the WERE no "former" colonists so some European countries. I don't think that the Scandinavians, Germans or Swiss did much colonizing by the sword back in those days of the European colonization.
One side note: the Italians were in Libya for some time. The result was that Moamar Khadafi had BEAUTIFUL Gucci scarves around his wretched neck. He dressed a la italiano. That was the ONLY even remotely positive think about him.
