The moment Paul Trott let his two dogs out in the backyard he could see a problem. Someone had broken the gate at the rear of the yard, and the dogs made a dash for the opening and into the alley beyond. As his partner Josh Lyczkowski ran out the door to collect the dogs, they heard someone in the alley shout No! Dont! Stop!, according to Lyczkowski. Then they heard a gunshot. Their largest dog, Tito, a Cane Corso that weighed about 120 pounds, had been fatally shot in the head. Lyczkowski arrived so soon after the shooting that the police officer who shot the dog still had his gun drawn. Tito, who was nearly two years old, was killed two garages down the alley from Lyczkowskis property. Lyczkowski said the tragedy was that Tito was a gentle giant known in the neighborhood for being friendly. Hes a sweetheart, said Lyczkowski. They claimed Tito had lunged at [the officer]; if anything Tito would have been playful.

Don’t cops carry mace anymore?
ping
They now killed a “gay” man’s dog.
Since this is pet of one of the “ruling class”,
there may be some action taken.
Given the way the Minneapolis Police react, I’m surprised that the owner wasn;t also shot because he was deemed a “threat”.
I’m a middle-aged, clean-cut law-abiding white guy and the Minneapolis Police scare me!
How come when they shoot at bad guys all they can hit are bystanders but when they shoot at dogs they can make clean head shots?
Don’t know, but they sure don’t carry common sense anymore.
The dog or his 'partner'?
It is a decision not taken lightly. It is a decision not made at all. It is not a decision. It is automatic action dictated by training. See a dog. Shoot the dog.
Mace is “inhumane.”
When my daughter (a serious dog person) was with the police in a major city, she told me that she/they received absolutely no training in dealing with dogs or situations involving dogs. Most of the officers had no clue beyond drawing and shooting a dog.
Human life must come first. But indiscriminately killing domestic animals behind the shield of a uniform is very bad for a number of reasons. But the rabid law and order folks should realize that this is another slippery slope, and left unchecked becomes part of their (LE) thinking process and culture. When a dog’s life becomes that cheap, you’d better believe that carries over to humans.

Culture is determinative - and this dog owner has tattoos, a metal ring through his lower lip, and what appear to be 1/2” I.D. grommets in his ear lobes!
Add to that the well known fact the Cano Corso breed is a guard/fighting dog breed.
Yup, it may well have been a lover, not a fighter, but coming at a run, how could the cop know?
Asking a cop to master both a gun and a pepper spray device is possibly a request too much.
Can’t cause ‘brain strain, Ya knows.
A clear case of homophobia...
“How come when they shoot at bad guys all they can hit are bystanders but when they shoot at dogs they can make clean head shots?”
Motivation?
Unenlightened self interest?
However, considering that the city has been taken over by dog-hating Muslims there will be little concern over the dog being killed by the police there.
Sharia Submission: Minneapolis Mayor Proudly Wears Hijab When Meeting Somali Muslims
Janna Brock April 10, 2014
Minneapolis is a hub for Somali Muslims, so much so that they have taken to politics to "get a seat at the table." It's not too hard to get in, because the powers that be have already kowtowed to Sharia. Minneapolis mayor Betsy Hodges took sharia submission a step further, in donning a full hijab when meeting with Somali Muslims.

were they in business together?
They were giving each other the business.
