In an on-set video promoting Omaze's Star Wars: Force for Change campaign to raise money for UNICEF innovation labs and programs, "Star Wars: Episode VII" director J.J. Abrams reveals the brand new X-Wing starfighter ship that will appear in the upcoming film.
In the clip, Abrams stands in front of the war-torn ship while talking about their fundraising efforts. "We cannot tell you how grateful we are for your support," he says. "People from over 119 countries have already participated and that's incredible and we're so grateful. But we're still going, we have one week left. So for this final week, we're offering you and a friend the chance to visit the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII' and be in the movie."
PICS: Movie remakes
The X-Wing reveal comes amid an alleged plot leak that spoilers some story lines for the upcoming "Star Wars" flick (alleged spoilers ahead!).
According to Badass Digest, the new movie will begin with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's characters discovering Luke Skywalker's severed hand 30 years after "Return of the Jedi" ends. The duo then team up with Han Solo and Chewbacca to track down the vanquished Jedi master.
Sound like a good storyline to you?
Ping
ping - I hope he doesn’t do to Star Wars what he did to Star Trek.
Just imagine how many novelists who have worked so hard to remain within the iron clad universe are reacting to the possible changes...
Yep, that’s right, we’re talking NERD WARS!
I have a bad feeling about this........
Had to post that!!
Why would they care about Luke’s severed hand from Empire? Did he get his other hand chopped off after Return of the Jedi for some reason?
Do you know if there is some background story, or inside joke to that line (since it was in several of the movies)?
They unveiled the script, but it was just a bucket of turds.
I remember in the 80s just about every kid had model X wing fighters and Tie Fighters.
During the early 60s I had a good collection of model airplanes including the first Starfighter, the F-104.
That was the long, silvery one with stumpy wings, wasn’t it?
I built one myself, too.
THERE IS A NEW PUPPET IN THE BACKGROUND!!!
If I have to spell it out: Lucas trashed the original trilogy by replacing all of the amazingly done puppetry with fantastically crappy CGI effects. The existence of a new puppet suggests that J J Abrams recognizes that as a failure and aims not to follow.
Just don’t hire Lucas as the dialogue coach. How that guy went from American Graffiti to the fourth released Star Wars film, I just don’t know.
Oh Yeah...

I am not nerd enough to know that answer!
As a Star Wars fan who regularly views the Naval Historical Center’s online photographic library, that is one of the best photoshops I have ever.
They used to fly those out of George AFB. We used go shooting in the desert near there, and i loved watching them. They were so cool looking.
Yes that F-104 was probably as fast as most modern fighters. We lived near the Eglin reservation and for some reason I had a perfect view of a recurring flight pattern.
For several years there would be two fighters fly what was apparently a recurring circle. One was an F-100 and the other was an F-104. I don’t recall which one was following or leading.
They would fly by the house literally within a few hundred yards then maybe 20 minutes later would repeat the same thing and keep doing so for an hour or so. I never did know what they were actually doing.
Don’t worry. I hear Abrams will be resurrecting Darth Vader, who will now be played by Linda Hunt.
