Each row got its own pie
Adam Ritchie, a Domino's Pizza manager in Cheyenne, Wyo., said he'd never received a call like the one he got Monday night.
"I need to feed my whole plane," the caller told him.
"Lucky me, I hear 160 people. It ended up being like 38 pizzas," Ritchie said.
A Frontier Airlines flight from Washington to Denver was diverted to Cheyenne because of bad weather. The plane was stuck on the ground for nearly two hours.
The food on board was gone, so the pilot decided to order pizzas for everyone. Each row got its own pie.
"Next thing you know, Domino's Pizza was rolling up to the plane," passenger Logan Torres said. She sent CNN photos of flight attendants passing out boxes.
Frontier Airlines spokeswoman Tyri Squyres said she wasn't surprised at all by what the pilot did.
"This is not unusual for our pilots to go above and beyond to care for our customers," she said. "We have some great pilots who work here."
Personifies the “friendly skies” concept.
If I ever get on an airplane again, I’ll be sure to choose Frontier Airlines.
I know which way this pilot votes...
Frontier Airlines is my choice of great service...
Unfortunately, TSA had to search the pies.
Bush's fault
/irrelevance
A slice or two each is all it takes
Probably fondled every pepperoni personally too
Now, this is a guy I’d trust at the yoke, right here......get DHS out of the picture and I’d board this dude’s plane any day.
Really good thinking on the part of the pilot for several reasons. Not only is this just good marketing, and will produce good press for the airline, pizza is probably the best possible food for the situation. It’s hot, filling, tastes good, is a crowd favorite. It’s hard to be mad at anyone when you’ve just had a couple of hot slices of pizza after a long, trying day. Even though this was a weather delay, not airline stupidity, this was a good call.
Thirty years ago when Dominos first hit the streets in my home town it was great tasting pizza. Somewhere over the years they cheapened the pizza to the point that it is just horrible.
What a great guy! Nice choice to feed everyone.
Later he passed out bags and demonstrated the Split S and Immelman maneuver.
I think I have to agree with you. When I took my brother down to Stanford we ordered a Domino’s pizza and it was awful.
have you tried it recently? they improved it
I really like Frontier. Late model equipment, on board persona; tv’s, and fair prices.
Question remains: Was the pilot reimbursed? A pilot for India airlines did the same thing ... ordered sandwiches for everyone - said he wasn’t going to fly thirteen hours with no food on board for people.
Great PR for the airline, he was probably reimbursed
I bet Domino’s corporate will get involved as well.
