Paiute Deadfall Trap
The Paiute is a very quick trigger mechanism. It is also fairly easy to set. Unlike the Figure-4 trigger, it uses cordage. Examine the photos carefully and you will get an idea of how this trigger works.
The bait is placed on a long thin horizontal bait stick. This bait stick is held at both ends by friction. When the bait stick is moved, it slips off of the short trigger stick that the cordage is tied to (wrapped around the vertical stick). This allows the weight to fall. Be careful to place the deadfall so that it does not land on the vertical stick.
It is advisable to place the vertical stick on a flat stone. This will allow the vertical stick to fall out of the way as the weight falls (in the photo below, it will fall to the left).

Would the trap work if I use a bag of Skittles, and bottle of Robitussin and a Mountain Dew for bait? ;-)
By now you should have run out of children..........
So what do you eat now? Johann Bach indoctrinated free range chickens?
Only seen bits and pieces of those shows, but one that I remember is getting a prairie dog by squashing it in a flat rock trap, and while cooking it over a fire, he mentions that it should be thoroughly cooked, since the critters are plague carriers.
Auck! The horror...the horror!
GO for it, leaves more for me
Hanta virus is spread by mouse droppings. You can catch hanta from inhaling in the area of infected mouse droppings. So eating the creatures isn’t really even a risk factor as long as you cook it.
Ebola doesn’t exist in the US and isn’t carried by “bush meat”.

Fun site - thanks
Nah! My immune system considers stuff like that a training exercise. lol
Excellent choice. The several variations shown provide lots of room for imagining variations for bigger stuff, and for smarter stuff.
Sharp pointy parts might work better for bear than a flat surface. Patchouli-flavored bait might work better for liberals. Etc., etc.
Fun stuff.
Tell that to the Bataan Death marchers, they ate anything they could get, rats, crickets, cobras...they survived and many lived long lives.
What did he use for ground squirrel bait? I have an over-abundance of these critters. It could be good practice squishing a few of them with a trap like this.
Sunflower seeds and peanut butter are good bait for squirrel.
“eating bushmeat is not a smart thing to do.
You, my friend, have been watching way too much Discovery and Natgeo. Nobody says “bushmeat” unless they live the life. I’m quite sure you don’t live the life.
Have another bong hit dude and go to Fudruckers and get another half pound cheeseburger. If you’re feeling adventurous, make it buffalo.
When you die of starvation the worms and ants will appreciate your germ free body. The buzzards too.
Both.
I can’t remember what Les used but it had to be something pathetic. He is the worst survivor in the world. We watch his show just to make fun of him. Basically what he does is go out and starve for 4-5 days. He hardly ever finds any real food. LOL! Love the show though.
