More prayer needed for my family. My son was having troubles with the side of his big toe, at the edge of the toenail...I took him to urgent care/walk-in clinic and they said he had an infection and we should soak it in epsom salts, keep it clean and keep the toenails cut even. They gave him some antibiotics.
He went to camp the first week of June and when he came home, the other foot had sores on both sides of the big toe! ...and the first toe was worse. We cleaned them the same as the other foot, tried to keep them cleaned up and soaked them and then wrapped them before he went to camp for the second week. He got back Saturday and the toes were oozing puss and crusty and bloody. They were so bad I called everyone in my phone book to beg for a ride to the urgent care.
Finally found a ride and when they saw his toes, they said "this is bad". They searched for signs of an ingrown toenail in both toes and said that was not the issue. They said it was important to get him in to see a podiatrist, immediately. They prescribed a cream for the toes (the cream was denied by our insurance), told us to clean both toes with peroxide, put the cream on the sides of the nails where the nail meets the skin, cover with a 2x2 piece of gauze then wrap with gauze wrap (the disposable kind). They gave us a few pieces of gauze and a small amount of the wrap, but no tape. I got a few latex gloves to keep from passing anything to his toes and taking a chance of making the infection worse. At this point, it looks like he will lose his toenail at minimum...and if things dont get done quickly, he could lose both big toes. I am using neosporin ointment in place of the prescription cream they wanted used.
Cody needs prayers, really bad! Please...pray for Cody's medical needs. Also, does anyone have any medical supplies they don't need anymore? We need 2x2 gauze, 4x4 gauze (for cleaning), gauze wrap (2"wide roll)...bigger would probably be ok...peroxide, medical tape...the nylon style would be easier but any available would help!! Neosporin cream, cotton swabs to apply the ointment. Please, if you have any of these, contact me and I will give you an address. I am praying several people will have bits and pieces they are willing to send so I get a little bit of everything needed. God bless you all for the prayers and any help provided for the supplies.
Another issue, does anyone know how to treat poison ivy? He either has a rash that is from poison ivy or from a reaction to something he is allergic to.
Darn!
I would first call an infectious disease specialist and ask for help, and ask to speak to the doctor himself, or to his nurse, or his PA (physician’s assistant), or call the Urgent Care facility and ask them for a referral to an infectious disease doctor, or call the podiatrist and ask for a referral to an infectious disease specialist, or move into the hospital Emergency Room and ask for an infectious disease specialist.
Count the days you have been dealing with this and the advancing infection and be sure and tell them you are now very concerned this is spiraling into danger. They will listen. Let us know.
Just got a call from the doctor’s office, they have an appointment for him tomorrow at 3 pm...they are calling our transport service for medical transport and arranging the trip for us so we can bypass the 3 day notice they usually require. I just tried to get a ride from another source and was told they would not take us just because some internet doctors say we need to go there.
Trussel, I am thanks full to God that you have a way to the doctor. If you are not satisfied with the antibiotics progress by morning, be prepared to ask the doctor at your 3:00 appointment for a referral to a specialist.
On the other hand, you and we are interested in trying first to stave off the unknowns, the worst case scenarios against staf, or of MERS. We do not know if the condition is that critical, but that is why you and we want to find out quickly as possible. So, don’t panic.
YOU are doing everything possible and acting fast. God will bear you up through the night. If there are no pink streaks upward from the site and he isn’t running temperature, then rest well tonight.
You have all of our prayers, dear one.
I hope and pray your son isn’t in too much pain so he too can sleep. God be with you and your guardian angels be of comfort, lending a peaceful night to you both. Love, Rita
Thank God that the doctor will now see him earlier! I guess all these prayers were heard.
I agee! Please don’t wait!
Prayers continue for you all.
For the poison ivy, we’ve had success with Ivy Dry.
one person thinks the rash may be from the condition affecting his feet...that it could be from a form of blood poisoning. I’m so thankful for all the prayers as I’m sure they were heard and that’s why he has an appointment with his primary care doc tomorrow. It’s usually harder to get in with her, so this is truly a blessing!
What was the topical medication the insurance denied? You never know, someone may have an unopened tube they don’t need.
Prayer ping
It was "Mupirocin Calcium External Cream 2%"...it would be totally appreciated if someone has some they don't need! It's $107.00 for 1 tube!
But what I really am desperate to get too is the supplies to keep these toes clean! I am suppose to be cleaning them 3 times a day and I don't have the 2x2 guaze to protect the toe from the wrap, the 4x4 gauze to apply peroxide and help with cleaning, the 2" wide roll of guaze wrap, the medical tape, cotton swabs to help with cleaning and applying the cream, the neosporin cream and the peroxide...I did get a box of latex gloves today from the food bank! But that is they only thing they had on the list of supplies I needed. Every place else I have called and asked for help said they had no way to help. Everyone kept telling me how inexpensive medical supplies are (they aren't inexpensive if you have no income!!!) I'm so tired of hearing how I should just go to the store and get the stuff! I would if I could!!!!

Open air with no bandages was done for my mother-in-law in the hospital with staph, who was treated with the miraculous liquid silver I mentioned, inside a cavity at the hip so large a size 6 shoe would fit.
I bet this appointment doctor will send you off with the supplies you need tomorrow, and I am relieved you have the gloves to protect yourself as you treat with the best you have, love. May God annoint your hands and your supplies on hand.
Your suffering and dear son’s are on our heart and in our prayers. We are laying hands of prayers upon you both, so pass your hands on to your son, over his wounds. Bless you for your works in this trial.
Lord Jesus Christ, heal, we beseech Thee, this man Cody, Thy servant, from all disease.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Ave Maria!
Thank you, Lone Palm!
Unfortunately, that’s not one I have on hand. Hopefully someone who has it will see the need and be able to send it on. Prayers continue.
