Raccoon are best when taken in the winter months. This is a time when rabid raccoons die off. The ones still alive will show rabid symptoms and it’s best to avoid harvesting them. You should use proper precautions, like wearing rubber gloves, when dressing out and preparing raccoon meat. Wash with plenty of soap and water. If there is question about rabies virus in the meat, proper cooking will kill the rabies virus. Raccoon is best when it is well cooked anyway.

They grow some real skunk up there on the peninsula. Not as good as the Alaska Thunder but good enough to see crazy sh@t.

My pet fire ant loves to go for a walk. The 100 ft round trip takes 30 - 45 minutes.

“Raccoon meat is some of the healthiest meat you can eat,” says biologist Jeff Beringer. “During grad school, my roommate and I ate 32 coons one winter. It was all free, and it was really good. If you think about being green and eating organically, raccoon meat is the ultimate organic food,” with no steroids, no antibiotics, no growth hormones.”
When you eat meat, you’re also eating what the animal ate. Racoons eat garbage.

Before the slaughter, most folks in these parts feed the hogs grain to get the nasty stuff out of the meat.
That’s hard to do with a “coon.”

Riiiight, eating grain and rooting around in their own urine soaked mud. Riiight, clean animal. Riiigth.
When you eat vegetables raw, you're ingesting millions of bacteria that could kill you. But by the time the veggies are processed through the gut, your sh*t ain't filled with those bacteria, 'cause your gut bugs killed them off.
