A 19-month-old toddler was critically injured after a police flash bang was tossed into his bed during a police raid at a Habersham County home on Wednesday.
Its my baby. Hes my only baby. He didnt deserve any of this, said Alecia Phonesavanh, the mother of the child.
It landed in his playpen and exploded right in his face, said Phonesavanh.
The child is now being treated at Grady hospital and has a 50 percent chance of survival.

Where, in the story, does it say he sold or manufactured drugs from the house? Giving these thug police the benefit of the doubt is an admission that they hold power over liberty and citizens’ rights.
Wait I thought you said you would like to know the facts. You just assumed the visiting mother knew this info...
The police promised theyd do better next time.
OMG!
Why in hell couldn’t the agents make an arrest at the time they purchased it? SWAT teams and no knock raids is ridiculous. They should be only used for hostage situations, etc.
Looks like I blew it big time, and owe a big mea culpa. I had not seen that bit of information that it was either the wrong address or that the perp was not there when I shared those “words of wisdom”. When I was growing up, the cops were the good guys; not so much any more. Did they SWAT the house without a warrant?
I think it was a “no knock” warrant, but they hadn’t bothered to confirm the perp was even there, or who else was in the house, before kicking the door in.
When they kicked the door in, the child’s playpen was pushed up against it and blocking their entry. So the cops tossed in a flash bang grenade without bothering to look and see where it was going to go off.
Insane. I know drunks working with homemade fireworks that were more safety-conscious than that.
It is too bad that out of control JBT’s are now flash banging children in no knock raids.
Just as it is indeed too bad that so many damn surrender monkeys grandstand on these incidents as a reason to legalize drugs.
Rational people can see the need to legally enforce drug laws. Surrendering in the WOD would only lead to more of these nazi style raids amd worse.
She wasn't, the family was visiting after their home in Wisconsin was damaged by fire. But it's possible she was aware of what was going on.
I think watching Andy Griffith should be required for police training.
There will be lots of finger pointing, lies, and cover-ups on this one, but not cops were injured, so move along, nothing to see.
latina: “ There are no blameless parties here, except the child.”
you: “ridiculous”
What is ridiculous about her statement?
I watch a lot of ID TV shows. When the cops are describing arrests of criminals they watch the place and go in when they know the perp is there AND whether anyone else is in the home that could be harmed. I guess only murderers are apprehended that way, not petty drug dealers/users.
“Why in hell couldnt the agents make an arrest at the time they purchased it?”
What? And end a two-year investigation in six weeks?
Seriously, I remember these dudes that were making drivers’ licenses in a Sacramento parking lot. The cops investigated it for two years before shutting it down!
The family's home in Wisconsin recently burned down, prompting their trip to Atlanta to visit family.
Theres nothing we can do to change the situation, my husband and I would gladly both give up our lives just to see him not like this. Hes such a happy little boy, and to see him like this laying there, not moving, its heartbreaking. We just want to hold him and we cant,” Phonesavanh said.
“More on the story.
Agents were buying meth at the house but kids were kept out of sight.
Baby was visiting. Placed in portable crib which blocked door.
When agents couldnt open door (no-knock) they tossed in flash grenade.”
That flashbang wasn’t appropriate even without a child. While more sensational because it is a child, it is no less wrong had it been a 30yo man or even the suspect.
This is a dangerous device that has no business being used unless violence was offered first. This is not the first time a person has been harmed but that military grade weapon.
