Hundreds of stray and abandoned dogs are waiting for adoption at the San Diego Humane Society.
The population problem is caused, in large part, by the cost of spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted births.
"Being able to very safely and cheaply neuter most male dogs, that can make a huge difference in the number of dogs that roam the streets,” said Dr. Holly Mullin of the VCA Animal Hospital in Hotel Circle.
It costs hundreds of dollars to neuter a male dog, but a new injectable solution called Zeuterin could change that.
It stops sperm production forever with a simple, single dose.

Actually, given the extremist ecological idealism of liberals I’m frightened of the possibilities. A progressive population extremist could “neuter” hundreds or thousands of boys without their knowledge. It might take a generation to even find out it was done.
At least once, possibly twice when I was in grade school the heath department showed up and gave us shots without my parent’s knowledge or consent. This was in the ‘60’s. I didn’t even think to tell them it had happened. The attitude was it was none of their business.
They need to develop a shot for females,canine,feline,or urban feral.’Cause if you miss one male,all the females end up pregnant anyway.
Cops neuter dogs with a shot on a frequent basis. One shot and the dog will not breed - or breathe - again!

Heck if they can make it a Dart. Animal control can just do driving “hunts” to solve problem.
The comments on this and people are in very poor taste at best
1) Will they still make testosterone and be capable of mating while shooting blanks? The female is of course the limiting factor and a lot of sterile males might just keep her busy enough to not conceive. But if they’ve all lost interest, she’s going to find the dog that is still fertile.
2) If they still make the usual amount of testosterone, this method of neutering won’t address aggression.

I don’t think this particular shot could be given without a boy’s knowledge. No sir.
Side effects? Unintended consequences? More research needed, but certainly veterinary medicine has progressed a lot in the last couple decades (I have reason to know, LOL!)!
Stopping sperm production doesn’t necessarily stop the hormone production, which is the real problem with cats. They don’t say exactly what the chemical does.
Liberals tend to be self-neutering. Muslims are another matter.
I wonder if it would work on serial baby daddies?
