Australian officials are hammering out a new agreement put forward by the Malaysian government that will set out critical guidelines in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.
The proposed framework details how Australia will continue to lead search efforts for Flight 370 and governs how parts of the investigation will play out over the coming weeks and months under various scenarios, including if and when components of the aircraft are found.
The proposal addresses three main points, said Martin Dolan, chief commissioner of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau:
Handling of debris: The framework outlines the chain of custody for any wreckage, including a specific location where the debris will be taken and protocol for its handling and examination.
Care of human remains: The proposal addresses sensitive questions of how any human remains found in the southern Indian Ocean will be recovered and treated.
Widening the search: The document discusses how best to deploy resources, including new underwater search assets, in a considerably wider search area, if the current series of underwater missions by the Bluefin-21 fail to uncover any sign of the flight data recorders or other debris.....
Crucially, the safety bureau chief commissioner said he expects ongoing data analysis by an international team of experts in Kuala Lumpur to result in further refinement of the search area within the next couple of weeks....
The safety bureau has three investigators who have been working as part of that team in Malaysia since early April. They continue to study satellite communications data from Inmarsat and details about aircraft performance to determine the most likely area where the Boeing 777-200ER may have entered the water, Dolan said....

How about the Aussie government stops being complicit and starts saving the money instead of wasting it on a false search.
I’ve said since day 1, this thing didn’t crash and I’m still convinced of that.
Common sense kinda suggests that Australia will go ahead and mount a fair sized search for another month, and to a lesser degree...I’d expect China, and US to participate. By the end of June....that will conclude the search entirely. It will be written off and just left as a plain old mystery.

Insurance will pay for the search and that plane was insured for over $2 billion. And finding it is essential for insurance companies and upcoming lawsuits.
Now that they have embraced the fact that it may have landed safely in the water and sunk, I’m just wondering if they have ruled out search areas closer to Indonesia as the Inmarsat 811 Arc passes right through Jakarta and Christmas Island closer to the S10 Parallel.

If I’m ditching an aircraft and want to survive I would do it closer to the deep waters off of Indonesia.
Just seems to me that if the plane was where they thought it was, it would have been found by now. All this dickering around is just cruel to the loved ones of the passengers and crew. Given the involvement of a thug US administration, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if someone or some agency knows the plane is in enemy hands and is just stringing the families along for nefarious political reasons.
They are handing out tinfoil and trying to convince everybody on the internet that it is in the Maldives, in Somalia, in Iran, in Pakistan, in North Korea, in Afghanistan, anywhere and everywhere but where they left it.
You’re missing the entire point Uncle. This aircraft was intentionally stolen, all evidence supports it, I’m also positive a lot of these countries know where it is, but can’t say, they’re into this cover up too deep.
I hope I’m wrong, put everything points to what I said being right.
They have hardly scratched the surface of the search area where they heard those pings.
The area is 18,000 sq miles and they are only able to cover with the Bluefin about 35 sq miles a day. To cover that area thoroughly would take a year and a half.
They are just hoping to get lucky.
For what purpose???
This is a disaster for Malaysia and when all this stuff hit the internet about it being in Pakistan the Malaysians contacted the Pakistanis and asked for help in locating the aircraft. The Pakistanis told them that it ain’t in Pakistan and even invited the Malaysian officials to come up to Pakistan and examine their radar data.
The Inmarsat data is the most solid and reliable information there is in this search — even General Mc acknowledged that and tried to explain his Pakistan theory in light of it knowing that the Inmarsat data and analyses and experts are reliable.
I think it’s in Iran, my buddy in csis won’t confirm nor deny, but I also think it was taken to be used as a delivery vehicle. Take it for what it’s worth, but my theory holds just as much if not more than most of these lying governments.
Why would Iran need a plane that can never take off now when they have dozens of their own and can lease whatever they would need from another country if necessary.
You do realize that that plane wherever it is will never fly again.
You do realize that if it landed in Iran or anywhere it would have sent a satellite ping that the landing gear was lowered and that never happened.

You may have point, but we shall see, either the plane or it’s cargo was wanted somewhere, perhaps a deeper look at who was on the plane wouldn’t hurt.
How do we know that ping never happened?

Yeh — everybody has a “they” in their lives.
It’s just a matter of listening to the right “they” — the “they” that is willing to put their money, sailors, maritime resources, ships, UAVs where their mouth is.
Is the “ping” public domain or is it and internal signal meant for airline or manufacturer ears only.
My main point is I do not believe one public word about this airliner deal since the first word released by the Malays. It has been a Chinese fire drill from the get go.
Some of the Inmarsat data is available on the internet — and it is the most credible part of this search — even General Mc stands by it and explained his Pakistan theory in light of it.
Remember that until that data came out the Malaysians had the navies of 14 nations searching for the plane in the South China Sea for a week.
Then when confronted by the Inmarsat data the Malaysians suddenly had a come to reality moment and found their radar data that confirmed their worst nightmare that the plane did in fact turn around and headed west.
No one has been able to contest the Inmarsat data or analyses.

I still say it is right where it was last seen on radar, under water of course and not in the sky for all those sarcastic types. :)
