Thanks for the pic.
Well, maybe my neighbor wasn't so whacky, after all....although he always wore a sombrero when he ate the chili sundae....hmm.

There's something like apple butter made from unusual sweet potatoes grown locally, they're purple and get even more intensely purple when cooked. Nice flavor, very decorative with that color. People use it for lots of things, I've seen it in cake icing mixed with cream cheese.

In northern Colorado, nobody’s ever heard of pimento cheese, so I just make my own. GA native.

Make it right, share it with friends and coworkers, it will spread, lol. What’s not to like? Excellent grilled cheese sandwiches with pimento cheese, adds a little extra kick, the cheese oozing over the sides gets crispy and brown.

My father, who occasionally tried in Cook for me and my little brother, inadvertently stumbled upon our favorite recipe -burn onions and mashed potatoes. Those were the days.

Pretty purple. Reminds me of the purple in our highschool colors: Purple & Gold.

It’s unusual that the color intensifies when cooked rather than dulling down. Specialty chefs like to use it for garnish and sauces. The sweet potato butter is good spread on a buttered biscuit or toast by itself, even if the appearance is a little disconcerting.

Hot, apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top. There was a time when Wisconsin had a law making the cheese mandatory! There was also a law banning oleo dyed to look like butter.
The dairy lobby had a lot of pull in Madistan (20 square miles surrounded by sanity.)

Salt and pepper your cucumber slices, put a 1/2 teaspoon of yogurt on each cucumber and top with a slice of roasted red pepper
