The marginalization of other voices is now complete.
The cross-promotion of more white male celebrities prove it: The entertainment industry has perfected the development of white, cis, straight, male characters. The marginalization of “other voices” — except when those “others” are brought in only to aid in the cheap punch line of a joke — is complete. This is aggression that we do not have to accept. We will protest this until it ends.
Many dismissed the protest we undertook last month with #CancelColbert, a hashtag we set up in response to a blatantly racist Tweet about Asians from the Colbert show’s account.
We think people are surprised to see that their monolithic view of Asian Americans as a model minority is being challenged. We are not the problem. Your stereotypes and narrow roles for us are the problem.

None of us do. She lives in a world where it’s as common a descriptor as “white” and “male”, and “other” is used as a verb. She might as well be speaking a different language.

Well ok. I had decided to make no effort whatsoever to find out what it means, for the same reason I make no effort to try to speak Spanish in the U.S. It probably won’t take much effort to put it back out of my memory.
What does his remark have to do with us being stuck with Colbert? Are you saying any attack on Colbert is alright just because Colbert is a clueless lib? The person attacking Colbert is extremely thin-skinned. Colbert’s remark was an attempt at satire...a very lame attempt. But too many people take offense at virtually everything.
I plan on not watching Colbert like I didn’t watch Letterman...like I’m not going to watch Fallon either. The only one of these late night guys I like is Jimmy Kimmel.....but I can’t justify saying up that late to watch his show. I do listen to his pod casts on I Heart Radio..and like I say, I think he’s funny.

You haven't been around a whole lot of Asian women.
I taught thousands of them during my 44 years of teaching and I can tell you that there are some really ooogly ones. There are about the SAME percentage of beautiful young women everywhere.
That you like them better than any other women shows that you don't appreciate your own very much...and that's a shame.
Side note: ABC's, American Born Chinese have their Asian sisters and brothers beaten all to heck. ABCs (both male and female) have butts, not the straight line from shoulders to heels.
They also have boobs (women) and chests (men), not the straight line from chin to pubic hair.
Chinese DON'T (usually) have a bridge on their nose so if they wear glasses, said glasses are down around the end of the nose, ready to drop off the face. Contact lenses, please.
Chinese women, as they age, usually start balding right at the top center of their hair: TOO many years of dying their hair black and doing perms. The two treatments are DEADLY for hair.
I guess the Asian women see "gray" as age. Many women do. But having lots of gray hair is better than having bald spots where there once WAS and is no more.

As a girl I was a natural blondie. As I aged, the hair got a bit less blonde.
So, at one time I had blonde highlights to keep me blonde. I also had a perm because my sister had really curly hair and I didn't.
The both of these treatments were TOO much for human hair. One day, after about eight months of doing this, I looked in the mirror and I looked like Bozo the Clown.
So, I went to the hairdresser and said: Cut it all off!!!
He did and left one inch of hair all around. My husband loved it but I wanted more hair there.
NOW I go for the highlights and skip the perm. My husband is gone, but he would like my hair now. I have always had LOTS of hair. I still do and it's still very thick and soft, naturally, and blonde, with a little help.
Are these people really that stupid ?
When the barbs hit closer to home, then it's different.
I get tired of the idea that liberal comedian jerks are always satirizing the "real bigots" who are somebody else, and rejoice in seeing this clown hoist by his own petard.
