Staubach: Draft Manziel over Clowney

If Roger Staubach were on the clock with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, there's no doubt in his mind that he'd take quarterback Johnny Manziel over defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

--SNIP--

"I think Manziel is a Russell Wilson-type player," Staubach said Wednesday on the NFL Network. "He doesn't have the height, (but) he has a strong arm and he throws with accuracy.

"... I just think there's something about this kid - the quickness. Today in the league, the quarterbacks can fly; we weren't allowed to do that. I think Manziel is going to be a valuable player in the NFL."

Here is another example of racism in America-- Drafting a white quarterback... over Jadeveon Clowney, a Black man, is inexcusable!

Hey, makes sense to me... and shut up about my work ethic, it is Black thing!

They’ll never be another Russell Wilson. He’s one of a kind. I do believe Manziel could be a great QB in the NFL if he decides he wants to put the work in.

I think Houston needs defensive linemen more than a quarterback they wouldn’t be able to protect.

Draft neither — both locker room poison.

It’s a physics problem. Manziel won’t be able to withstand the hits for very long in the NFL. He don’t have the mass to absorb them like a bigger quarterback would.

Russell Wilson is perfect for Pete Carroll’s offensive scheme. He’s also built like a linebacker, and a great game manager. There’s a real good chance if Russell Wilson went to a pass happy team he wouldn’t play much. He’s the perfect quarterback for Seattle and I think he’ll retire at Seattle.

Manziel on the other-hand is a showboat who’s all for himself. He’s not built like a linebacker and likes to run around way too much; just showing off before he throws the ball. You might be able to get by with those tactics in college, but he’ll he creamed in the NFL. He also has no where near the arm strength Russell Wilson possesses. Manziel if he wants a long career in the NFL needs to work on playing another position. Maybe a punt returner, I can’t see him doing anything else.

Oh, yes.

Seriesly.

Just to piss off the Manziel fanboys on this site - he still looks like that kid in Deliverance playing the banjo.

Clowney only plays when he wants to, which is about every third game. The rest of the time he just takes up a roster spot.

Well, I'll tell ya, kid-- If my wife, Marianne, wasn't around... I'd be on you like the speed of light squared on matter to make energy

Yes, pax, honey, physics was required at the Naval Academy... and it really helped my passing.

I don’t think so, you can’t win without a pretty good QB and they ain’t got one.

They haven't got a defensive line either.
