Yes. Let’s impose ROMNEYCARE on all Americans instead.
Let’s make CERTAIN that Romney’s statism is here forever.
[\s is this really needed?]
Interesting.
And for people who say, “oh, we don’t need anything, just go back to the free market we had before,” they should think again.
First of all, it never was a free market and hasn’t been one for decades - if ever - because of the insurance companies and federal and state health agencies.
Secondly, Obamacare has done so much damage to the infrastructure of “what we had before” that there is no way for it to come back as it was.
We need a plan, and Jindal’s actually looks better than many other suggestions I’ve seen.
How about freedom for an alternative?
How about the free market?
How about less restrictive regulations on medical insurance?
How about tort reform?
How about buying insurance across state lines?
We have lots of alternatives - they just aren’t popular with big government liberals.
“To participate, states would need to guarantee access to people with pre-existing conditions, a key part of Obamacare. ”
Forcing insurance companies to sell health insurance to people with pre-existing conditions is like forcing insurance companies to sell fire insurance to people whose house is burning down.
Jindal’s a big-time technocrat.
The alternative is called called freedom. Free enterprise.
The market economy free of government interference is how America became the most prosperous place on earth. The free market economy is the best anti-poverty program known to man. Not government. Government creates poverty. As Reagan said, government is not the solution, it is the problem.
The socialist argument for "perfection" ("leave no one behind") is a ruse to gain power. Nothing is perfect, ESPECIALLY Socialist tyranny. A society that puts freedom first will have a great deal of freedom AND equality. A society that puts equity first will have neither.
Trying to repeal just one of the government programs forfeits the principle that the government should be out of the system completely. That's why a limited attack won't work.
And, it may be that nothing will work until this generation of benefit-hungry seniors takes a dirt nap. Patience - God will take the takers before too long.
The problem is many on the Right are looking for alternative government solutions. But government IS THE PROBLEM and the FREE MARKET IS THE SOLUTION. Forget those on the Right who have a vested interest in perpetuating this $4 trillion government beast. The rest of the Right needs to get on board with cutting 80% of this beast (=800 billion government -still too big IMO, but it’s a start) and start echoing the praises and benefits of the voluntariness of the market free of government interference.
ABOLISH HHS
Enact Tort Reform.
Let the Free Market decide.
No Grants. No more Gub'mint Pots O' Gold to perpetually mine on the taxpayers' dime.
Get the damned government out of our lives and our doctor's offices.
We don't want a new and improved Obamacare. Got that, Bobby?
1. Any plan to offer “insurance” and simultaneously offer coverage for pre-existing conditions is not insurance.
2. Any economic scheme which uses your neighbors’ money to pay for your beans ALWAYS has the effect of raising the price of ordinary beans and/or reducing the supply of ordinary beans, and reducing what would have been a better selection of other-than-ordinary beans. And raising their price.
3. Health care and insurance both behave like beans.
Yes an alternative is needed. The old system was already mangled by earlier government Interference. The solutions are simple and don’t require money. Undo the damage and undo half of the older damage. Offer tax benefits to individuals to get the same advantage as business do by buying pre tax. Open up competition. Get less government and employers out of the middle between patient and doctor and watch the number of uncovered drop and costs plummet. Return to insurance being catastrophic and allow the market to offer other plans for those that want them. One size fits all doesn’t work.
This also all but eliminates the problems of pre existing conditions because people don’t jump from program to program when they switch jobs or at the whim of their employers.
I say go back to the free market system.
GOP needs to offer more free stuff than the Rats.
I bet there are still at least 48 million Americans (if that original number was even accurate) uninsured after 0bamacare. They have no reason to sign up for 0bamacare and haven't. But he destroyed previously workable insurance for the entire rest of the country in the process.
We can throw it all out; no need to replace. Change it back to what it was and, if necessary to have an interim 'plan', implement free insurance/care for the uninsured, at billions less than has been spent ruining everyone else's healthcare.
“Jindals plan would create a $100 billion grant program that states could access if they create insurance reforms to control costs.”
And where is this magical stash of funny money going to come from?
Get the damn government out of the way, you idiots!
