“Not even one in the U.S”

Are you surprised???

Reagan National’s redo a few years ago could put it in contention architecturally, but like all US airports, it’s still fairly mediocre AND boring. Taxpayers would revolt were we to invest heavily in a ‘show’ airport anywhere in the U.S.A.

Yeap. I am sure if there were a bottom 10 major airports the US would fill that up. The three NYC metro airports would make that list. With the NIMBYs, corruption, and enviro/labor rules, Asia is going to leave us in their dust.

For US Airport, the Albuquerque Airport is the most unique and comfortable Airport in the US. For international flights, most are older and not laid-out well for international travel.

Barcelona did not make the list at it is very nice.

My favorite is Honolulu International Airport. They have expanded it since I was a kid in the ‘60’s, but the minute you get off the plane and feel the soft trade winds and the air fragrant with flowers, you know you are in paradise.

In my estimation, no other American or tropical airport has this kind of ambrosial ambiance.

It's not even close. US airports are an embarrassment in comparison with almost anything in Asia (just like our airlines). Have to say, though, that some of them have been improved greatly over what they were twenty years ago (LaGuardia, O'Hare, and even Denver Int'l now that they've finally fixed the luggage issues are all OK).

Changi is just amazing and they got the best airport in Europe right on the sublist (Schiphol). But how Heathrow and Zurich made a top ten list like this is beyond me. Except for the new Terminal 5 Heathrow is a dump, and having been through Zurich just last January it didn't strike me as anything special. There are several airports in the richer parts of the Middle East (Dubai for instance) that almost approach the standards set by Singapore, Seoul, and Hong Kong.
