Researchers now know that residual tobacco smoke, dubbed thirdhand smoke, combines with indoor pollutants such as ozone and nitrous acid to create new compounds. Thirdhand smoke mixes and settles with dust, drifts down to carpeting and furniture surfaces, and makes its way deep into the porous material in paneling and drywall.
Hotel workers who sweep, vacuum, change linens, and dust the rooms of smokers are exposed to higher doses of thirdhand smoke than are the guests who stay a few nights in smoking rooms
Those who move into houses or apartments formerly owned by smokers might be exposed as well. And thirdhand smoke is difficult to eliminate

Third hand smoke. Sounds contagious!!!
Also serious is ‘Fourth Hand Smoke’. This is where a neighbor down the street smokes in his home and you are so worried about it that it causes you health problems. Similar to ‘Fifth Hand Smoke’ where someone on another continent...etc.
I recall such a case:
Bologna is probably worse for you.
I haven’t read the piece yet, but bedbugs are the best reason to be careful of used furniture.
Yeah, but what about twenty-eighth-hand smoke?
The outcome of “studies” depends on who is paying for it.
I think the gist of the article is that is a hotel did allow smoking 20-30 years ago, the workers can sue for hazardous conditions. It will help balance out the greedy hotel owners and their poor workers.
The bans on smoking in bars came about because the workers were exposed to second hand smoke. Instead of having your attitude and just working someplace else if they wanted to avoid smokers, the nannies just banned the rest of the population from smoking. If there were a big demand for non-smoking bars, that would have been a great business opportunity if the free market were allowed to operate.
Chow for paragraph eater.
But considering who's been twice elected President...The stupid is everywhere.
Fight the Free Sh☭t Nation
That's why they still allow airline pilots to smoke in the cockpit.
The bans on smoking everywhere came about because the majority rules.
I was born in 1940, almost everyone smoked and they smoked everywhere. This continued for many many years.
Then things began to change to what we have now. Majority still rules but the majority doesn’t like to breathe smoke when they go about their daily lives.
This is not rocket science.
Took them a few generations to soften up the ground, but it's finally ready for the Great Planting.
Nothing is more dangerous as a First Hand Liberal.
About 10 years ago we were in Michigan driving around sightseeing. It was getting dark and beginning to snow.
We stopped at a motel, only one empty room and 5 people wanting it. It was a smoking room and we were #5 on the list. One by one the people checked out the smoking room said “no thanks” and left.
We didn't take the room either the stink was awful!
True story.
I think you missed my point. Unlike a public place or bldg., a business is privately owned. People do not have to patronize it or work there if they object to the service, product or owner. the “majority rules” is also leading to the gays winning suits to force a business to bake cakes for their wedding, and to Hobby Lobby being in court. If the employees needed abortions on their healthcare so bad and Hobby Lobby didn’t provide it, they can’t find somewhere else to work? The gays can’t find another bakeshop? They are controlling private business.
I was strong and athletic too but every time I wrestled with a bear I lost.
I guess the problem is that my parents smoked and Davy Crockett’s didn’t as we all know he killed a bear when he was only three.
This post is every bit as pertinent to this thread as yours.
Nah, all of those things are myths...... except the painful growths part, that part is true........
Praise Bob!
