Regret. Pain. Ageism. Getting old isn't easy. But what's more tragic is when seniors can't frequent their local early bird eatery without fear for their personal safety. Take for example an incident that occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Golden Corral in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
Because that's when police say a 64-year-old woman instigated a food fight that left two other seniors injured, and potentially robbed of the ability to enjoy future hot buffets without looking over their shoulders.
Here's how it went down according to police.
One of the alleged victims, Linwood Moore, claims the suspect, Polly Richards, intentionally bumped into him at the salad bar. Already things were getting hardcore.

You’re right. This sounds like a Florida story.

The 64 year old seniors of today were 19 years old in 1968.

Im getting old, I think. When I see senior, I expect to read that the senior was 80+, not just 64. A clue for you - 55 is considered senior in many circles these days especially at restaurants and other business's as well.
Personally I've been accepting the 'senior discount' benefits of this practice for a number of years now. When I first hit the double nickel I (naturally) resented the implications but now have now come to accept it as a part of the 'maturing' process. Heh heh. Besides every little bit helps when you're retired living alone and eat out a lot.

What surprises me is that this didn't happen in Florida. Probably wouldn't have made the news there.

“Lettuce not jump to conclusions”
Careful or you may get a dressing down for your lack of senior respect.

I hate crap journalism like this. while i do not care so much for the humor aspect, i do appreciate some of the details... just today i have written on other threads about how most of today's articles are simply press releases with no further reporting added to them... journalism today, overall, is abysmal...

Mama used to tell me “son, if you live long enough you’ll get old some day yourself”. Man, mama sure sure knew what she was talking about.

Ditto. The other day while out cruising with my significant other, I made a snide remark about some driver who was driving erratically. Probably some old idiot I remarked to the wife. She said, "you're in that age range, and you probably qualify on both counts." She had me there.

Yep.
If it weren't for bad journalism, we'd have no journalism at all.
