Thank you @BarackObama for recording an intro to tomorrow night’s Cosmos broadcast!
CEDAR FALLS -— Comedian Seth MacFarlane, creator of animated sitcoms “Family Guy” and “American Dad,” can think of a lot of reasons he supports President Barack Obama.
MacFarlane -— who made a brief stop at the University of Northern Iowa on Saturday to stump for the Obama campaign and encourage early voting -— used humor to deliver a message he appeared to take very seriously.
“It’s great to see so many women here today,” MacFarlane told a crowd of 100, most who appeared to be college students, adding, “ ... I’m glad you got out of Mitt’s binder.”
Among other things, MacFarlane highlighted Obama’s position on reproductive choice, health insurance, global warming and energy. MacFarlane also said rich people would unnecessarily benefit from tax cuts and tax breaks under Mitt Romney’s plan and that Obama would help the middle class find jobs.
“With Obama, you benefit. With Romeny, I benefit ... And I promise you, I’m fine. I don’t need the help,” MacFarlane said.
MacFarlane took a stroll down memory lane to “eight years of funny business,” a reference to the Presidential George W. Bush era. Unfortunate things that happened under President Bush, according to MacFarlane, included prolonged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and NBC’s decision to launch a reality television show featuring Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee at the University of Nebraska.
“Please, Iowa, I’m begging you. Please do not let Mitt Romeny take us back to ‘Tommy Lee Goes to College,’” MacFarlane said.
Thanks to Obama, MacFarlane said “Family Guy” scripts now have to turn to the late musician Conway Twitty for prime time foder, rather than an infamous terrorist.
“’Family Guy’ can no longer write jokes about Osama Bin Ladin,” MacFarlane said.

Cosmos (and David Attenborough’s Life on Earth) were must-see TV back in the day. My favorite, however, was Dr. Jacob Bronowski’s “The Ascent of Man” series. I had most of those taped on VHS, now transferred to DVD’s.
In those days we didn’t have 250 cable channels to pick from - if you wanted to see anything of substance public television was the only game in town.
That sure is some MacFarlane overkill. Never liked his type of “humor”, although the angry looks he got for his “We Saw Your ” routine did puncture Hollyweird’s pretense of artistry in that area.

Why would anyone watch scrubama when there are perfectly good reruns of “Joanie Loves Chachi” available for viewing?
Watch someone try to remake that show now, but into “Joanie Friendzones Chachi” or something.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Pres_ent Obama, can you spell BILLIONS?”
No, if they remade it today it would be “Fonzie Loves Chachi”
Sad thing is that Winkler could pull that off if he had to.
When I went to the space.com link I saw that Seth McFarland, creator of "Family Guy", was listed as the executive producer. McFarland is a militant atheist, a strident advocate for homosexual civil rights, a blatant bigot of southern Americans, and a vicious foe of the Republican Party. I was looking forward to this re-boot, but not now.
Most here on FR recall that Carl Sagan was an ethnic Jew and atheist. I truly enjoyed Cosmos(1980), and I think a lot of it had to do with them utilizing the new age music of Vangelis. About 3 years later, Sagan was pushing his advocacy of nuclear disarmament when the the film, "The Day After" was broadcast on TV. I think his key quote was: "The U.S. and U.S.S.R. are standing in a lake of gasoline ready to flick their cigarette lighters" or something close to that effect. Lost interest in him after that.
I just saw a commercial for this and I noticed they did not mention Dear Leader would be introducing it which I suspect was purposeful.
I wish this nut bag would just go away.

Politics and science together. What could go wrong?
Cosmos ... C-S-M-O-S... Cosmos.
And some say science isn’t political.
Too bad. I wanted to watch it. I want nothing to do with anything that he’s connected with.
