“Water from the bottom to avoid damping off.”

I had enough of the seed starter I have been using for 15 of the Dixie cups, and opened a bag of Jiffy seed starter, and filled 6 cups with that. After two days, the seed starter I have been using, was wet, but the Jiffy starter was not soaking up the water. Yesterday, they still had no water in that Jiffy mix. I filled a spray bottle with filtered water and sprayed the top to get water down in that cup. I hope that doesn’t cause the seed to ruin.

It was my fault, I guess, for not reading the instructions on the bag. It said to moisten with water BEFORE planting the seed. I thought all seed starter would work the same way, suck up the water from the bottom. This is the pits if the water doesn’t go inside those cups. How could this mix stay dry with the cups having holes around the bottom and holes on the bottom and sitting in water?

The mix may have a lot of peat moss in it. Peat moss is very hard to get wet.

I always pre-dampen my starting media. It just works better that way for me.

This shifting tons of tree mulch is a lot like real work. I'm already exhausted, and I have much more to do.

Oh well. Back to it.
