And if it had been a gun? What then? You would be speaking out the other side of your mouth and condemning the police for not acting.

You are the guy I have been looking for. I’m doing research on the taste of leather. Since you seem to have licked a few leather boots in your time, help me out, how do they really taste.

Um, we would be speaking out because people don’t have the right to bear arms? Is that what you’re saying?

Why would a Down Syndrome kid be carrying a gun?

What if your glasses “might” actually carry a tiny explosive weapon? What if your watch “might” have a poisonous drug in it that you “could” use to kill someone? What if your cell phone “might” have a detonator for a bomb in it? If the police DEMAND that YOU have to stop walking on a public sidewalk based on their whims, will YOU submit? If not, then you are a hypocrite.

So, was Powell reaching for his bag in a threatening manner?

Just what got this cope so interested? If Powell was doing nothing at all with thei threatening bag, why did this brave cop decide to roust him?

But, the cop went home safe that night, that is all that really matters, right?

condemning the police for not acting.

Are you daft man? Where his other behaviors indicating it was likely to be a weapon??????? Or maybe this officer had penis envy problems and not only needs to be fired for his stupidity, but mental counselling for his envy problems.

Maybe this all goes back to some similar mental "envy" problems you have, so I am sorry /Not

A colostomy bag? Sheeh!

Well dufus, if he had a gun and had harmed no one, ( just gotten the crap beat out of him by donut munchers) nobody decrying this would be commenting differently.

Its that second ammendment thing which you seem unaware of.

I don’t see a colostomy bag very often, but I am not too stupid to know what one is. I realize that law enforcement routinely employs bottom feeders without the meager intellect to recognize one, but they should call for instructions when they are really confused before administering a beatdown.

...gun...You would be speaking out the other side of your mouth and condemning the police for not acting.

No. Not. Negative. If the kid shot someone or threatened someone with a gun then he would be subject to arrest. In the old USSR, perhaps this would all be justified. Actually in the bad old days 40-50 years ago beating up on retarded people was considered by some to be great fun and cops in some places did that from time to time. So we are so advanced and humane now.

I suspect this cop is not so retarded that he did not recognize the signs of retardation. He had fun. His mistake was in not then shooting the kid or beating him to actually dead.

“And if it had been a gun?”

That was my very first thought - what if it HAD been a gun.

Specifically - MY gun that I have a Right to carry. And somehow made even more of a right by the piece of paper in my wallet.

So we should have “preventive” law enforcement?

BTW, I have no problem with the man carrying a gun, it is his 2nd Amendment right.

Florida allows citizens to carry guns on them. It is better that cops should die than for an innocent citizen to be harmed in the slightest by these jackbooted thugs. That's the way it works in a Free Republic. I guess you like living in a police state.

bramps,
If it were a gun it was not being used to intimidate or threaten or in any way bother anybody. Apparently you believe that having a gun makes it OK for the police to beat the crap (in this case litteraly) out of you.

Aside from that routinely ignored "right to keep and bear arms" thing, there is also the fact that hundreds of thousands of people in Florida have jumped through all the hoops to legally carry concealed weapons.

Had it been a gun obviously it was well concealed in this case. We know that because, in fact, it was a colostomy bag, for which no state permit is required; at least as of this date.
