FULL TITLE: The moment woman jogger in headphones is knocked to the floor and handcuffed by cops because she didn't hear when they tried to ticket her for jaywalking
A female jogger out for a run in Austin, Texas, Thursday was arrested, handcuffed and hauled into a police cruiser screaming and in tears for allegedly failing to identify herself.
The entire incident was caught on video recorded by Chris Quintero, a student at University of Texas who was sitting in a cafe across the street and witnessed the woman being taken into custody.
The arrest took place just before 11am outside a fast-food eatery near the intersection of 24th Street and San Antonio Street in Austin.

Living in a police state is tough.
You know things are getting bad when the Jack Booted Thugs need to go after jaywalkers to increase revenue.
Pathetic.
This is Texas pal. It’s Red. I thought it was a different kind of red.
Anyone who has driven in Austin near the UT campus knows that joggers and bicyclists run and ride through red lights all the time. I say it is about time that Austin’s finest start ticketing those joggers and bicyclists who are a danger to themselves and to others.
Hey, I know. I live here.
a jayjogger who no doubt voted for the regime that is now busting her for ignoring its laws.
Taking their cue from the NAZI party, today’s American police have only to adopt a German accent: Zeigen Sie mir Ihre Papiere.
I'm seeing pavement, sidewalk.. maybe ground.
Where is this "floor"?
Don't blame Texas, my friend. This was in Austin which is a blue island in a sea of red.
Ticketing is one thing. Man handling is another. 4 cops? REALLY?
Why not just shoot her and be done with it.
Surprised he didn’t use the proper term: “footway”
There must be an example made. Obey or suffer the consequences. As Solzhenitsyn said......
At what point, then, should one resist? When one's belt is taken away? When one is ordered to face into a corner? When one crosses the threshold of one's home? An arrest consists of a series of incidental irrelevancies, of a multitude of things that do not matter, and there seems no point in arguing about one of them individually...and yet all these incidental irrelevancies taken together implacably constitute the arrest.
And then there Austin Red...
Running with headphones and not being aware of your surroundings can be dangerous.
She’s lucky - something bad might have happened to her. /sarc
It’s a British paper, they write and talk goofy.
From the article...the police were enforcing jaywalking...probably due to a complaint from drivers. They had issued other people tickets prior. As for this jogger...she apparently jaywalked/jogged, and they were within rights to issue her a summons. Granted that she probably did t hear them call out to her, hence the startled reaction...however, if they explained that they were going to issue her a ticket, and she didn’t fork over her info...the consequences are on her...
Oh come on...if you are a JBT then you get to ...um... tackle pretty girls in short shorts and handcuff them, maybe even pat them down, all in the name of enforcing really old laws that most people think nothing about in their daily lives.
What a great job!
What, you think that the police are tackling smelly old homeless guys when they jaywalk?!
Tackle the babes! It’s the JBT way.
They may have used excessive force, but I am sick and tired of joggers and bicyclists running and ridding through the lights and not paying attention to crosswalk signals.
