This is the dramatic moment a mother-of-two opened fire with an assault rifle on intruders who tried to smash their way into her home.
The woman took action after three hooded individuals kicked down the door of her Detroit home on Monday night where she lives with her two young children.
She fired off rounds in a bid to deter the would-be burglars, later saying she 'didn't have time to get scared'. The unnamed mother told WXYZ Detroit: 'I let them know I had a gun once they were in the house and they challenged me and said "no you don't have a gun" so that's when I shot off the first round.
...
As the intruders fled the home while shots rang out, one dropped a handgun. He grabbed it and tried to get back into the house but was scared off by more shots.
All three suspects are seen running through thick snow from the house. No one was hurt in the incident.
Police arrested three teenage suspects a short time later.

gleeaikin, I had an officer tell me once ... Never draw a weapon, on an intruder, unless you plan to kill. I would follow that advice, if all my weapons had not been lost in that terrible boating accident.
Detroit has been run by criminals, plain and simple. Mr. Bing really tried to clean it up, though. New guy in town, will see how he does.
Good for her!! Victory.
“Also, from the article, the mother slammed a bedroom door on the arm of the armed intruder, who dropped his pistol.
Her ten year old son picked up the gun and fired at the perp.”
It is a little confusing, but they are referring to another incident, one that took place in June in Brooklyn:
“In June last year it was reported that a 10-year-old Brooklyn boy fought off two intruders at his home by picking up a gun and firing a shot after one of the invaders dropped their weapon.”
Probably captures the moment the perps crapped their pants as well.
Chief Craig has done something amazing already and that’s been in bringing some respectability back to the Detroit police department. A year ago this woman probably wouldn’t even have bothered to call the police because it would be hours before they showed up if at all.
Thanks for the correction.
If you shoot to wound, you stand a much higher chance of the bad guy STILL shooting you. You’ve wounded him, which just pizzes him off.
My old boss wouldn’t even consider letting me go for my CPL and carrying at work (a gun-free zone) until I could honestly tell him I would aim for center mass and shoot to kill. I spent a week thinking about it. When I could honestly say that the only good bad guy was a dead bad guy, then he did everything he could to help me. It takes a lot of serious thought to come to that decision.
I’m glad you have a hair-trigger, but do hope you re-think the wounding part. Unless you can aim well enough to disable both hands, you may be in trouble.
Hi-Point 9mm carbine
Oh, I forgot. Classic Arms now has the PPS-43 in 9mm.
Ugly guns, but functional and inexpensive.
I was quite disappointed that that one in particular wasn’t killed.
It's an intriguing piece and the price is right. My problem with it is the stock is welded to the frame so you cannot use it from your shoulder. But for a short range weapon it could be quite effective.
I picked mine up about 6 years ago for $175. At that price, it was a fairly painless purchase.
I took it out to the range and a let a rifle snob shoot it, he didn’t like it because it wasn’t very accurate. Which is fine, you’re not trying to take rabbits at 50 yards with the thing.
My thoughts exactly. I would refer you to my earlier post.

A lot of gun snobs like to dismiss High Points. However, they do exactly what they are supposed to do, provide dependable service to people on a budget.
High Point would increase their sales astronomically if they would add higher capacity magazines and do some small cosmetic changes to their firearms. They are ugly. If they added a folding stock to their carbines — that would be another win. I guess they figure if aint broke don’t fix it.
Well, if the person is close enough to grab me, or has a gun then I could shoot to kill. My husband took me out to a range and was impressed with my concentration and quick development of good aim. The guy I encountered before I got a gun had a knife.
