If you shoot to wound, you stand a much higher chance of the bad guy STILL shooting you. You’ve wounded him, which just pizzes him off.
My old boss wouldn’t even consider letting me go for my CPL and carrying at work (a gun-free zone) until I could honestly tell him I would aim for center mass and shoot to kill. I spent a week thinking about it. When I could honestly say that the only good bad guy was a dead bad guy, then he did everything he could to help me. It takes a lot of serious thought to come to that decision.
I’m glad you have a hair-trigger, but do hope you re-think the wounding part. Unless you can aim well enough to disable both hands, you may be in trouble.
Well, if the person is close enough to grab me, or has a gun then I could shoot to kill. My husband took me out to a range and was impressed with my concentration and quick development of good aim. The guy I encountered before I got a gun had a knife.
