Peyton went into that game with a wound, it wasn't a physical wound but one his own team mates delivered by making him look like a bully and insufferable task master.
They claimed he would give them 'pop quizes' on what to look for in a game, they said they were afraid of him, they said they would try to avoid him and he would interject himself in every aspect of the game.
AFC in general is weak.
Top teams this season for me, Seattle, San Francisco,Carolina,New Orleans.

The Seahawks should have shut the Broncos OUT. THey had a lapse of concentration on Denver’s scoring drive. Had they clamped down hard, they would have had the only shutout in SB history. One thing to work on next season.
You can add this to your post. Manning was in heirs an contention in I believe his senior year at UT. The Vols came to play the University of Memphis and was abused like a yard dog. Peyton was made to have a horrible game. He thus became the only starting UT qb to lose to the U of M Tigers. In a Sports Illustrated article the following year, he was asked if there was any college game he’d like to have back. He said the Tigers game for sure. That probably more than likely cost him the Heisman.
I completely forgot about that game. I remember all the talk going in that the Heisman was Peyton’s to lose... he lost it alright. What a stinker of a game.

I remember it because I was there. Great night for Tiger fans. Peyton is the ONLY starting UT quarterback to have lost to the University of Memphis Tigers.......so far.

Disagree. Manning was in the process of stepping up toward the center on the first play from scrimmage to deliver a line audible when the jittery Denver center snapped the ball over his head resulting in a safety.
This is a classic move by Manning that was repeated several times during the game even after the disaster on the first play.

I’ll will bow to your knowledge of his intent.
That’s not what happened at all. Manning blew that play. Here’s what the center had to say:
“It was real loud. We were trying to go on the cadence. I thought I heard him. I didn’t. He was actually walking up to me because he had already said the cadence, and I snapped it.”
Manning had already given the cadence for the snap and the center snapped the ball at the proper cadence. Manning stepped up to make a last minute adjustment...
But it was loud... REAL LOUD. Most Super Bowls are simply not very loud as most attendees aren’t fans, the seats are sold to corporations and businesses. But when the NFL released tickets late in the week due to weak sales (because of the weather), Seahag fans swooped in and bought them up. They traveled very well.
Most Super Bowls are fairly quiet affairs, not this game, this was a Seattle home game, and John Fox being the genius that he is never thought to bring in loud speakers to simulate crowd noise because “we didn’t think it was going to be a factor.”
So extremely loud crowd drowns out Peyton as he’s trying to change the cadence, but too late, the center snaps on the cadence.
Ramirez stepped up and took responsibility, but the blame for that play is firmly on Peyton, he should have just stuck with the original call.
Obviously I can’t claim to know what Manning intended. It’s just that we’ve all seen him do it a thousand times. What else could it be?
Given that the Broncos were operating in the shadow of their own end zone I don’t doubt that noise was a factor. But heck, this is the Superbowl. 4 pre-season games, 16 regular season games and 2 prior playoff games and they have a missed center exchange (not involving a wet ball) in the biggest game of the year? But then it’s just these kinds of fluke plays that seem to define championship games.
