Jerry Seinfeld won the Super Bowl. But it was seriously close: He almost got beat by a puppy. But choices have to be made, and at deadline, the pup comes in second.
A great Super Bowl for ads? Not great but reasonably good, with only a few ads that were far off the mark, even fewer that assaulted sensibilities and stomachs. That in itself is an accomplishment. This was the year of the tease (Seinfeld) and the year where fewer ads were pre-released in the hopes that viewers would pay closer attention, or at least be surprised.

The best:
1. Seinfeld Reunion/Crackle: That old tease, Jerry Seinfeld, told listeners of WFAN last week that his "Seinfeld" reunion wasn't a Super Bowl commercial, then amended that by saying it was "not not" one either. The dead giveaway there. But as it appeared Sunday night, at Tom's Restaurant, with Jerry and George and Newman supplying the kicker, this was the Super Bowl ad we all live for -- a fun, well-executed, surprise that made us (me) miss "Seinfeld" all over again. Plus, his "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" is worth the plug.
2. Budweiser: Puppy Love: Little to do with beer but everything to do with puppy love, and love of horses, and love of country, and love . . . running out of "loves" here, but this one was smothered in them, and effectively so. Plus, I loved it.
3. Audi's "Dober-hua-hua": Some people on Monday will argue that this was the best ad of the night, and I won't argue with them. (Except: See above.) Funny, silly and absolutely no doberhuahuas were injured in the making of this ad. Best part: When the critter eats up Sarah McLachlan's guitar.

It was absolutely the best out of what was, for the most part, a horrible lot of commercials.
Jack Bauer / 24 commercials. Do those count?
Worst commercials in years.
I watched about 20 minutes of the show - which translates to about 10 minutes of commercials. I didn’t see anything special any of the commercials I watched.
The puppy / horse commercial..made alot of people in my house cry. Can’t explain that one.
The MS one was the best imo, sure it was not funny, but it was heart warming.
Top 5
I agree. (The M&M made me smile.)
I was genuinely offended by the multilingual “America the Beautiful” Coke commercial. I mean REALLY pissed off! Big vote for WORST commercial.
For me the funniest was the couple where the lady was cleaning off the guy’s lip. It was spontaneous. I couldn’t help myself.
But the dog one was good too.
Interestingly, I have no idea what they were advertising. Same goes for the seinfeld one.
Likewise here. The part with Sarah Mclachlan was hilarious especially since the ads she does for the ASPCA tug at the heartstrings.
I was genuinely offended by the multilingual America the Beautiful Coke commercial. I mean REALLY pissed off! Big vote for WORST commercial.
I liked the M&M’s commercial and the puppy commercial the best. If course all the real action this year was over at The Puppy Bowl!
The Maserati ad was horrible. I confess that during the ad I saw a maserati and making the comment out loud that the only brand of anything I’ve seen so far is a maserati, and obviously that is not what they are trying to sell here.
Except it turns out it was.
The muzzie part of that ad was even worse than the foreign languages. The Coca Cola suits need to get the message loud and clear that mooselimbs are the enemy and that diversity is perversity. Real Americans should boycott all of their products including the Minute Maid brand.
Here too. Even Hubby was fuming, and since his stroke he doesn’t care about much of anything.
The Bud puppy was the best and the Metlife Peanuts second. The Seinfeld ad, like the show he had was not good at all.
