I have improvised applying ointment or cream to my back with an old (but not too rigid) rubber spatula (bowl scraper). Worked fine in a pinch, and I happened to have one that had an extra long handle.

Praying for you to find lasting pain relief!

I was very blessed by a wonderful freeper who helped me with a lotion applicator that I am able to use to apply the cream to my back. It worked very well, and then the doc discontinued the use on my back but told me to continue putting it on my hands. I still use it to put lotion and other creams to my back. I still use icyhot or bengay when I can get it. I’m out of all of that right now, but look forward to getting more when I can.

I am having a heck of a time with the itchies! (I’m sure it’s probably my medications). My back, face, hands...they all ITCH like crazy! I can’t reach the itch on my back with my hands so I have been known to grab a pair of scissors to scratch that part of my back. I gave myself a very long scratch on my shoulder and now have to be very careful when trying to scratch it. I have been putting some ointment on it to keep it from getting infected and the ointment has a pain reliever in it too. I’m using the applicator for that too.
