I was driving along on a little lonely stretch of road along the coast today south of LAX, enjoying the view, on the way to gymnastics practice, when suddenly six helicopters appeared, in formation, beside me and just above, going north like me along the shoreline. Two were regular military copters in front, flanked by a formation of those double rotor transport copters. I was wondering what was going on, and then I remembered hearing that Obama was going to be out here this week.
Yeah, I can’t stand the man, and know he is a phony and possibly - probably - not even eligible, and know he has only caused harm to this great land. But those huge whirlybirds, the beautiful coastline and late afternoon sunshine, the majesty of the office and the Leader of the Free World right there, possibly looking down at my car, really touched me. NOT THE MAN. The office. The military. The powers protecting our leader. It was really cool.
They all turned in at LAX and went to land. I couldn’t see them as they went over the hill. But shortly thereafter, there was a traffic report on the radio saying that the prez had arrived and such and such areas were due to be gridlocked for some time... It was him all right.
I have a lot of respect for the office and the founders and this great country. I only wish he had the same.
