Wesley Chapel, Florida--A couple was shot and the man was killed Monday afternoon at the Grove 16 movie theaters in Wesley Chapel, authorities said.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the victims were got into an argument with another couple who were sitting in front of them. An altercation ensued, and the the male suspect shot the couple, authorities said.
Both victims were being transported to a Tampa-area hospital, but the male victim died. The female victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said..
Another patron inside the theater was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived, and he was taken into custody, authorities said.
The theater was evacuated, closed and cordoned off. There was a large law enforcement presence at the theater just after 2 p.m.
Grove 16 is located off Interstate 75 and State Road 54 at 6333 Wesley Grove Blvd. It includes a restaurant theater called the CineBristo, but it isn't clear where in the building the shooting took place.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
Technology claims more victims. sad.
I’m guessing on a missing fact....ummmm....what could it be?
Its a nice place too. Stupid idiot
2011 demographics for the zip code
88.6 white (doesn’t indicate if white hispanic or not)
Just the opposite. It was two middle aged couples, and the guy in front was texting during previews. The guy behind asked him to stop and he wouldn’t, so the guy shot him. At least that’s what Fox is reporting.
Nope. Right there in the article.
All of the AMC theaters in Texas are plastered with 30.06 posters prohibiting concealed carry. I wonder if this was an AMC theater.
>>and its a dare to say anything about it (which is a trigger to attack, like staring a chimpanzee in the eye).
Usually, it’s not “like”.
I do know what you mean, however I propose a slightly different scenario based on the fact that the companion was shot as well. I bet the deceased or his companion was on his/her cell phone at which point the shooter took umbrige, and was most likely impolite about it. Upon being called out the cell phone user and companion became agressive towards the couple that wanted them to behave in the theater. Facing two agressive people caused the shooter to fear for his saftey (or at least have a plausible arguement), thus the shooting of both. This also may explain the shooter being detained by other unarmed patrons.
In my town they all have a no guns sign but not the official statute poster so they basically mean nothing.
My niece could see the chopper landing. She lives close by.
If you’re carrying, you have an extra obligation to avoid conflict.
That is, if you were raised in a civilized culture.
I agree, and so does the state of Texas if you take th CCL course. As a matter of fact, even in my scenario, the shooter is fubar unless he clearly tried to back out of the conflict before opening fire.
Law enforcement procedure in a shooting:
(1) Get there when it’s all over.
(2) Terrorize the public for a couple of hours.

(3) Shoot a dog if the opportunity arises.
I bet you were wanting to know how many were actually in the theater watching a movie on a Monday afternoon, and what the seating capacity for the theater is, right? Seems like most people might move to a different seat if the people nearby were annoying them with cell phone use, and the theater was fairly empty. But some patrons would go on the “disrespected” tangent,to justify killing an unarmed movie customer.
(Just kdding, I know what you are wondering. You might be racist.)
