It's January 9th, the main story so far has a name that sounds like a fun dance; The Polar Vortex. Another story is just now making the rounds although it happened many months ago; that story is now called Bridge-Gate. Apparently, some speculate that when Gov. Christie was running for re-election, certain local politicians were somewhat slow to display their supportive joy and enthusiasm for Christie to remain in office.
Some think the angry impatience was made evident when a bridge was needlessly blocked in New Jersey during one of the busiest times of the working day. This 'surprise' blockade stayed in place for over four hours, enough time so that emergency vehicles were forced to drive far out of their way in order to reach someone in critical need. In this case, it was a 91 year old woman, who, very soon later died. Many New Jersey Democrats are saying she should not have had to die, just so Christie could use city workers to 'punish' a local mayor who may or may not have wanted Christie to be re-elected.
Well, as it turns out, Christie did win re-election in a landslide, so I'm sure he thought all the actions taken during the campaign were already being forgotten. This is not going to be forgotten, at least not for a while. Christie will likely survive this, albeit in a somewhat weakened state for the present. While this story is still being circulated and learned, there may come a point where Christie needs some visible support from a few of the old guard Republicans and a fair amount from his own generation as well. I would not bet on a lot of republicans in his peer group speaking out for Christie. Many times in the last few years, when other GOP candidates needed Christie to go to bat for them, he would publically chose to sit it out, or just ignore there requests for help.
Cucinelli asked for support from Christie during that difficult Virginia campaign. Of course every conservative now breathing knows how Christie passive-aggressively refused to help Romney in the last days of his Presidential run. His snarky remarks about why would anybody mind him praising Obama still sting. I was stunned at what appeared to be heartless behavior. But then, it takes a huge inflated ego to run for office anyway. So, I'll just stop being shocked so easily. Some of us Tea Party members, such as myself, liked Christie a lot when he first came on the scene, but his bullying tactics and his habit of belittling those who disagree became bothersome. Much of that luster is lost. Christie may find himself pretty much on his own if Bridge-Gate has any legs.
In the next week, you will have more MSM resources directed at investigating this bridge fiasco ... than have been directed at the Benghazi scandal to date.
Vote x 2,. Totally agree.
They already have. It’s leading the news on ABC. Obama scandels, not so much...
Yeah, they dropped Gates-Gate for Bridge-Gate in a NY second.
From a politics standpoint, the time between now and when he’d announce his candidacy for President is an eternity. A million things could happen which could influence his run (one way or the other).
The GOPe will make sure this does not derail his “front runner” status. They want him, they’ll make it happen.
VA to CT: NJ Turnpike to Garden State Parkway to I 287 across Tappan Zee. Depending on traffic, you can pick up I 287 earlier off the turnpike. The latter route adds a few miles, but it’s a pretty good alternative.
This is a big scandal and the media should treat it as such. The problem is, they won’t view the Obama scandals with the same skeptical eye they’re using for Christie.
Obama gets the benefit of the doubt, Christie does not.
I think Crispy is trying to use the Obama excuse. “ I learned about it on TV just like the rest of the nation”
Circling the chuck wagons.
That fat f**k can’t fit under the bridge.
Related thought- the buzz is that this incident was renamed by someone as “Bridgeghazi” and that people went apoplectic because they thought it demeaned those murdered in Benghazi. I was wondering if it really does demean those who were murdered, or if it keep the Benghazi lies and scandal at the forefront, as it should be. In other words, the left has been using “gate” as a suffix since the l970’s to describe every scandal that’s come down the pike. What would happen if we use “ghazi” as a suffix to illustrate the message that we aren’t going to let it go.. just as the left hasn’t let Watergate go for 42 years (and is using “gate” to perpetually commemorate the resignation of a republican).
Yep...or 81 to 80. My daughter and son-in-law are in VA, and do that. The farther away from NYC, the better off you are. Google maps makes decisions based on traffic patterns much easier these days.
Happy trails to you!
I thought about that too. Before we jump down their throats with our righteous indignation, lets just think. At least this (the very thought of the Bengazi Misadventure) is part of the conversation, if that is the way it must be in this barely literate culture we have now, where very few read full news articles anymore. It’s a suffix, like the way we use ZILLA from Godzilla. ZILLA means anything big, dangerous and exaggerated i.e. BrideZilla.
In the big picture, this word doctoring is not that big a deal. They’re not directly making fun of the four who dies, thank God for that little courtesy (so far).
