“I’d shoot the bottom of the wagon. That makes holes pretty quick. ;)”

And the cops would be here fast.

The engineer carries tools in his car. However, a year or so before he died, my husband bought a good quality set of power tools. His son took husband’s pickup which was fine since it had been his old one he gave husband. There was a big black plastic container in the back of that truck and the son thought he was getting that fine set of power tools. He did not ask me if he could have them and I was too upset to deal with it plus the son is an alcoholic and I was sick of dealing with him. I just wanted him gone so I wasn’t going to bother about those tools but at that time, I didn’t know how fine they are.

Well, that fine set was NOT in that box, son got an empty box. Then, engineer was here during that and he saw the fine power tool set in the storage room and told me how fine they are. That’s when I learned it was a quality set. So, being a man/engineer, what did he do? I have a credenza in my living area/office area, and the top of the credenza is covered with electric gadgets that run computers, TV cable and phones and 911 call thing for me and power station where he plugged in a battery for those tools and the vacuum cleaner in that tool set is also on there and I don’t know what else but the whole credenza is covered with the engineer’s method of running everything here. I don’t mess with the top of that credenza.

Since that battery for the tools stays charged, he can attach the drill and get a hole in that wagon pronto.

I laughed my head off when I found out the son got an empty box and I still had the tools and they are great tools.

Oh, with a commercial sewing machine, you could surely make them.

I am thinking even a hot glue guen wuold work, or the seamstress across the street who would charge about 2 bucks a bag..She works way too cheap, and I've told her that a zillion times.

Sometimes, she tsk, tsks me at my laziness at sewing on a button, or hemming something..she's two years older than you, btw..I think she is still charging 1960's prices.

She gets up on an eight foot ladder, and cleans her eaves, and soffits, and washes her windows..She is pretty amazing.

Oh, I was outside getting rid of the ligustrum. Got six down, and then went in my little greenhouse..Yikes, it was already 97 degrees in there.

I ordered an on sale greenhouse vent opener from Harbor Freight, plus got a 20% off coupon from retailmenot, so it was only 21 bucks..I hope it comes pretty quick. I worry I will forget to open my greenhouse window, and bake everything in there.

School was out Thursday and Friday of this week due to a much smaller amount of snow. She’s only been to school 1 full day since December 13.

I do worry about my daughter driving to St. Louis. I am hoping that the storm tracks north of us, but they are saying it will be blizzard conditions throughout the area.

I am sending Hubby to the store to get some of the weekly specials and fresh fruit today.

BRRRR is right. North of Missouri is even worse for the cold. This is shaping up to be a pretty cold winter for us so far.

Just came in from harvesting 7lb of potatoes. Russian fingerlings and reds. Found two larvae in the container soil with the fingerlings. Resembles a potato beetle larvae in orange/rust color, more than an inch long. Fortunately, all potatoes are in excellent condition.

I'm going to get an expert ID for the larvae.

It's up to 68F here now. It's actually warm. I opened up the cold frame so everything didn't cook.

All my potatoes that I grew are almost gone. There is a sale on 10 lbs of potatoes this week, so we will be getting some potatoes.

I just scrub the ones we grow, since there’s no pesticides or green to deal with, the skins are thin and edible. I’ll have to peel the ones we get from the store.

Next year I will plant more potatoes so we’ll have some longer into the winter.

Keep us posted on the larvae you found.

Pretty much. I'm baking pecan sugar cookies, so there is unwanted heat in the house.

Have you ever home canned pickled pork?

No. I cure and smoke my pork, so don't see the need for canning.

I have canned chicken, but not pickled chicken.

Are you thinking about canning pickled trotters?

No, not pickled pig's feet, but pickled pork for red beans and rice..in case there's a zombie apocalypse..

“Ryan’s on Sat and Sunday.”

Okay, I haven’t been there in years, sorta forgot about it, plus didn’t know about breakfast.

Just a small collection of what is coming out of the hoophouse:

Kohlrabi, carrots, parsnips, chard, broccoli, turnips. lettuce, and kale. Everything is under plastic sheeting at night to protect from the freezing temps. The greenhouse, OTOH, has been resting. I need to repair and refill the beds in the late winter/early spring. I'm thinking about adding more to the hydroponics and stocking the fish tank with tilapia when it warms up.

Food is better than it was a couple of years ago. New manager, I think.
