Sd.Kfz. 251 fitted out as a command vehicle. The framwork on top is the antennae for the radio. The basic vehicle was a halftrack.

The Warsaw Ghetto uprising...the rebellions and uprisings in the death camps Treblinka and Sobibor...these events were very significant and should be noted in any review of the year 1943.

The First Moscow Protocol was mostly filled by the British. We didn’t have the means built up yet to supply all the necessary Lend-Lease materials. Hence the Churchill IVs going to Archangel.

I think one of the most important components sent were the variety of machine tools. The Soviets used these to get the relocated factories online a lot faster than they could have done on their own. It played a critical role that was completely denied by the Soviets after the war was over. It wasn’t until the Russian archives were temporarily opened that the real impact of these components became known.

I read a scholarly article on this a while back. If I can remember where the heck I found it I’ll link it to you.

Considering I wrote that article last night at 10 pm you will have to excuse that omission. I didn’t even have time to proof read it much less make any modifications.

You are correct though that those were significant events in 1943. I would add that the reaction in the United States was starting to finally become more defined. You will notice that in many of Homer’s posts include calls for saving the Jews of Europe and that Zionist organizations are now popping up in support of this and the establishment of Israel.

Another thing that would need to be included is the great Jewish rescue by the people of Denmark. Thousands of Danish Jews were spirited off to Sweden and out of the reach of the Nazis. One of those prominent Jews was physicist Niels Bohr. He would then be smuggled out of Sweden in the bomb bay of a deHavilland Mosquito. The pilot would fail to instruct Bohr to put on his mask and he almost suffocated on the flight.

Dunno how authentic this is, but I've never seen a complete breakdown such as that before.

We supplied the Soviets the 400 lipsticks that won the war!

Any ideas on why the B-17 was in poka-dot cammo?

Its an assembly ship. its more common to see B24s done this way. They’re painted brightly for visusl reference to allow to large bomber formations to collasce before heading over the channel.

Not sure why it is painted this way, but this particular B-17 is referred to as the “Spotted Cow”. It is part of the 547th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group flying out of RAF Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire.

You are added to the daily news ping list. Welcome aboard.

I don't know what TIA has to do with it. Transient ischemic attack?
