First of all, let me say that I have been a lurker on FR since 2000. My wife (The Bat Lady) has been registered and a poster since the same time. I generally use FR as a news source and in years past as an info source for FR organized protests/demonstrations. I dont generally comment on articles because I mostly agree and dont need to preach to the choir. However one article fired me up and I finally register in August 2013.
That being said, I recently commented on an article regarding Steve Stockman running against John Cornyn. Knowing a lot about Texas politics I said Stockman was not a viable candidate. OMG! You would have thought I said I pissed on Reagans grave. I was called a troll, a Cornyn plant, a GOP-e (if my friends had heard that they would be laughing their asses off.) With all the name-calling I had to look to see if I was on FR or DU. Conservatives pride themselves on the quality of their debate versus liberal knee-jerk name-calling. I guess some here on FR cant raise themselves above that level.
Sticks and Stones! But more disturbing to me is the rise what I like to call the FR-e. Those are the posters that think that because they have been on FR for a long time that they are some kind of royalty and that newcomer comments and insights have no validity if they do not parrot their particular perception. I was called a noob prattling"
(prat·tle talk idly or childishly: to talk in a silly, idle, or childish way silly, idle, or childish talk)
Just because someone has recently discovered FR or recently joined after lurking they prattle? Oops, my bad, I guess they dont prattle if they agree with the pompous long-term freeper. Maybe we could cut back on the fundraisers if we encouraged new members rather than drive them off or turned them off with vitriolic discourse and vicious name-calling
(vit·ri·ol·ic adjective - filled with the intention or desire to do evil.)
If you havent looked at the Home page (click Free republic at the top left of the browse page) I invite you to look again: Jim Robinson states: Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support...
Jim is trying to attract people to FR. How does denigrating a new reader attract them to FR? Being a victim of a verbal knock-out game by a supercilious FR-e certainly does not encourage a "newbie" to participate or even hang around
(su·per·cil·i·ous adjective 1. behaving or looking as though one thinks one is superior to others.)
Certainly all long time members dont fit this category but those who do know who you are (or maybe you dont) and so do we.
I know who I'll be voting for, but we've got some strong Vega and Stovall supporters here on FR, and I encourage them to vote for their candidate and not Cornyn.
Trashtalk Cornyn all you like. ;)

>>So if I disagree with someone who has been on here longer than me, I am not allowed to say anything, and shut my pie hole. BTW, I been here only since 2007 or 2008.<<
No, you have been here since castlegreyskull Since Sep 25, 2009
>> “Who can forget pissant?” <<
.
Pissant was not a real world guy.
It had to be his way or the highway, and Jim gave him at least a dozen chances to quit his attack before zotting him.
Not trash talking Stockman.... I know the guy. I just hate seeing money funneled lost causes. Wouldn’t you hate to lose a close contested race due to funds than sending all the cash to a sure fired loss?
There are quite a few who have been here a long time but only post to promote RINOism around elections.
***Yup. That’s why I proposed the voluntary idealogical matrix. From my home page...

I would like to see a VOLUNTARY idealogy litmus matrix here on Free Republic, but when I proposed it to Jimrob, he called me a newbie.

To: babygene I dont think hes all that interested.
To: MHGinTN It doesnt matter what a FReeper thinks. Its just a list that they tell us what they think. That way we can tell who were dealing with.

To: Jim Robinson Hah hah, thats great. I signed up 2 months after you and Im a newbie. Back then no one even said, Welcome to FR. But yeah, I do think that there are tons of RINOs. To be more accurate, the term would be CINOs.
Ive been pushing for an idealogical litmus matrix here on FR, not to get rid of RINOs but to expose them.
THE GOP DOESNT WANT US- SO WHATS NEXT?

***It simply takes too long. Look at this thread alone. I see evidence of RINOism in some of the FReepers on this thread. It takes 700 posts to drill down. We need the matrix posted and available so that we dont have to drill down on every FReeping thread. Theyre wasting our time. Deliberately.
Agreed to a large degree. Perhaps a way to rate members by other members???

Competition breeds better candidates. Cornrow will move right even if he wins. These pols must fear the voter.
Yeah, the thing with Palin finally did him in.
hi, ash, welcome back.
I’m Ash I’m Star Traveler I’m gandolf
I feel like Sybil
I think it did BobJ in as well.
Cornyn will only move right for the election. He will revert back to his worthless RINO self the minute after the primary.
Naw, you’re not Ash. I knew him.

I sometimes wonder if Bob was getting dementia. He was a behind the scenes heavy lifter here, and it was a sad thing to see him self-destruct.
Now I had not thought of those...!!! Both are very good, thanks. Freepers are very creative!
There are probably quite a few who missed the history thread. It was fun reading it. :-)
Ash even had joined us over at “The Lifeboat” for a short time, but he couldn’t even fit in there.
See my post 297, meant to ping ya’ll.
I’ll stand with Marcella, and GOD BLESS TEXAS!
Flaming n00Bs is not the only reprehensible behavior around here. There are certain FReepers who can't resist the temptation to hijack the thread and start posting something entirely off-topic, rattling on and on about something that simply isn't appropriate to the matter at hand. This has been going on for quite awhile now, at least since the Mariners had Ken Griffey Jr. He departed to his Dad's old team and never really got it together - injuries, mostly. It's done a lot of take-no-prisoners players in. When he came back he really wasn't the same player. Now the M's have lured Robinson Cano away from the Yankees and appear to building something around him although this is really pretty hard to do in only one year. Good couple of front-end starters, but I think they probably could add a third and a couple of right-handed bats to protect Cano a little. Their outfield isn't really much to write home about but Cano's a second baseman so no help there. I know they're trying the free agent market but after dumping 240 million buckadingdongs on one player it's a little hard to see who they can afford. They could use a couple of relief pitchers too, wouldn't you agree?
I agree about Bob. My wife and I liked him, personally, having met him at several gatherings. A stand-up guy who would give you the shirt off his back. I really couldn’t understand why he was so rabid about Sarah Palin, and especially nasty to her supporters.
Not having him here is one of the reasons it now takes two months to get through a quarterly FReepathon.
