Within the last few minutes, local news is reporting that Aircraft Machinists Union 751 has offered a new proposal to Boeing, one would guess to try to convince Boeing not to move the manufacture of the 777-X out of state.
I will post details if/when they become available.
I hope they stand fast in their demands and threaten a strike.
I hope Boeing moves it anyway, but offers the mechanics new positions in the new factory if only to teach Washington state.
It’s not the state. The state granted Boeing NINE BILLION in tax incentives to keep it here.
Boeing had offered the machinists a guarantee that they would keep the plane here, and pretty much offered them a guarantee for EIGHT YEARS OF CONTINUOUS EMPLOYMENT.
That wasn’t good enough for the machinists, (like they could get that kind of deal anywhere else in the world), so they voted the contract down.
Now seems like they are waking up and smelling the coffee after crying in their beer all night!
Does their offer include employees taking over and making buses or something?
Let’s see, strike threatening leftist machinists.
Well, since they work with machines and small items to attach things, I think I’ll just say “SCREW you”.
I hope that I NAILED the problem on the head with my RIVETTING commentary.
Now, if they were members of the Electricians union, I would say, “Oh what a SHOCKING” affair, but it’s not that serious yet.
They’re BORING also.
They’re gonna get twinkied.
Are these machinists in the same union as those former Twinkie bakers? ;>/

“Full pay till the last day.”
I hope they move anyway. Those machinists, or at least the ones in Fort Worth that worked at General Dynamics . . . were pretty rough when they went on strike. Nails in the road, trying to tip over cars . . . violent bunch.
I hope Boeing tells the union to go piss up a rope.
They are crazy so it’ll probably happen.

If I were on the Boeing Negotiating Team I would issue a press release stating the Company has decided to rename the 777-X to the 777-Twinkie.
Late word reported on KOMO is that Boeing has REJECTED the Union proposal.
Boeing is also announcing today that it is MOVING a large portion of their research division to South Carolina.
Results?
twelve hundred jobs lost in Washington state.
There are many, many, many jobs and businesses in the area that serve as parts suppliers and perform various services in support of Boeing manufacture. Many of those are going to evaporate.
This is gonna get ugly.
The Bellingham paper is reporting that Boeing offered a final counter and that the machinists rejected it.
Somehow I got a feeling that A LOT of the people in the area ain’t gonna be happy with the IAM!!!
Hey! IAM! Better start making signs!!
IAM UNEMPLOYED!!!!!
Full disclosure, this has nothing to do with me personally, I’m not affiliated in any way with Boeing or it’s suppliers...
“Full pay until the last day!” Eastern Airlines Union slogan
