"I agree. Although, depending on type of grenade, I would say there was a pretty good chance the inside of the barrel would be damaged enough to make firing 105 rounds a bit dicey. Pitting of the rifling...perhaps a crack." That was my thought. A tank ammo round is made to explode so as to shoot the force in a single direction (out the barrel) a grenade is made to explode outward spraying the deadly shrapnel or phosphorus etc. in all directions which would definitely stress the barrel way more than a tank round.
I definitely would not want to be the gunner who put the next round through it after such an episode. And I know for sure I would not want to stand near the barrel when the next round was fired!

One of the reviews explained it well: Killing Hershel hurts Rick and the group more than killing Michonne.
And the Governor only sought to hurt them. Period. No way would they have been permitted to live if they HAD left the prison voluntarily.

A crack in the barrel... isn’t that the very definition of a Bad Day for a typical loader?

I saw one of the executive producers on TALKING DEAD a few months back and she said theyd have a lot more leeway in the fourth season because the comic book line ended. Odd they would say that, because it is untrue.

Anybody else notice Clara (crazy Irish woods chick from earlier in the season)? I thought that was her as a zombie towards the end of the episode. They just confirmed that was her on the Talking Dead.
Neither of us noticed her, but I'm going to rewind and look for her. Very observant of you!
It was Clara-zombie, played by Kerry Condon.
The first cast credit at the end of the show.

Wow, great mid-season ending, would have loved seeing a walker chewing on the governor at the end :-)
I also think little Judith is OK and on the bus.

Could be. So would a busted hydrolic line spewing hot cherry juice. Actually, once when I was gunning I had a shell eject into the turret that still had a little gunpowder burning off. Singed the hair on the back of my neck and filled the turret with smoke, but that was it. Scarred the shi’ite out of me though, that’s for sure.

Exactly. And like Laz said, the most fun would happen if the breech was still open and the grenade went off inside the turret.

“One of the reviews explained it well: Killing Hershel hurts Rick and the group more than killing Michonne.”
In this situation killing Hershel doesnt really damage the group, it just fires them up to fight harder. Live hostages are worth alot more than dead ones and could have been used to creat division in the group and/or induce them to leave peacefully. “Get out and no one gets hurt” etc.
In a fight Michonne is a much more dangerous enemy than Hershel and considering how much they hate each other I’m surprised he didnt kill her when he had the chance. Of course he could have been saving her for torture after he took over the prison.
To: Brooklyn Attitude
My thoughts about the attack as well. The Gov’s goal was not to take over the prison. It was to punish the people living there.
He killed Hershel because Hershel meant more to Rick.
All in all the tactics of that attack were pretty bad.

Agreed. Brian/Governor should have had his people surround the prison and quietly create entry points. Then when the time of the attack was to commence, he could have had the tank open fire and get Rick's group to concentrate on that threat. Leaving them vulnerable for a rear strike.
But then, that would have made this episode the final one for the series.

I think the goal was to take over the prison AND get back at Rick’s group. He needed a “safe place” to protect Penny#2 and to create a new Woodbury.
Its interesting that during their discussion that Rick didnt tell the gov’s people about the previous attack on the prison or what happened to the Governor last army. That might have taken some wind out of their sails.
To: MacMattico
Yeah, I finally caught “Talking Dead” where they mention that.
Being in private hands would make sense.

Maybe we haven’t seen the last of the Governor. He still hasn’t ‘turned’. so he still needs to be killed again.
And if we’re lucky, maybe he will rise again as the leader of a group of Mutant Zombies.
Here’s hoping for a Zombie Governor.

Who’s driving the bus? Any theories?

Glenn looked pretty sick. But I guess you do what you’ve gotta do!
To: privatedrive
They implied that Lilly shot the Governor so he wouldn’t turn. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him again except maybe in flashbacks (if at all).
