Emergency trucks rushing to County Road 418...an oil plant has reportedly exploded. Reports up to 90 miles away of houses being shaken.
She’s saying on FB that there’s a big crater where the house was.
Hope no one was inside.
For those of us not in Texas, could you state what part of Texas this occurred. Prayers to those in harms way.
Ha! I see the chatter but am so disconnected from that world it didn’t register what you were saying.
South of Fort Worth 30 miles or so.
And I was being too frivolous on a sad subject. It sounds like a natural gas leak explosion or water heater. Both very bad.
Thanks for the map. South west of DFW. Got it.
It’s OK. In today’s world we find out and comment on things we are emotionally disconnected from and it’s easy to be less than sensitive.
BTW, I am familiar with water heater explosions. They are bad, but not this bad. I wouldn’t have heard a water heater explosion at this distance but this shook my house and shop heavily.
Jim, the neighbor is on FB and she’s saying there’s just a crater where the house was. Some theorized that if there was an LP leak into the basement it would be large enough to do that??? I don’t know, just saying what I read.
And I have seen the aftermath of a gas leak explosion and they are incredibly bad.
she has also stated the cars are there.
I don’t think they where lucky enough not to be home.
she has posted their last name “Sanderson”
Could be. It would be a massive amount of gas to make an explosion this big. The shock wave was tremendous and I am probably 12 miles away. I’ll check for sure.

I saw that :-(
She said only ashes remain :-( Poor family and friends will be devastated. Prayers up.
Don’t think the name is Sanderson. Read her post again. She was talking to a Sanderson and someone thought she was answering her question about who it was. Been on the phone with a mutual friend of the homeowner but don’t want to give names yet.
if I am not mistaken propane is heavier than air. So, if there is a leak in the basement, it would just collect there till something set it off.
Comment from DMN:
“I live on county road 409, literally 1-2 miles east of there. Approximately 6 minutes after the explosion, there was smoke all around my house with a VERY STRONG odor of gun powder. Undoubtedly gun powder... “
Yup, I just kinda figured it out. Thanks for clarifying..
It’s NOT Sanderson.
Update us when you can.
Thanks.
So sorry Jim, sounds as if you know someone that knew them. Terrible situation.
Yes. According to our mutual friend, he had a large propane tank on the property too. If it was propane, it was a lot more than 6 inches on the floor.
first question I gotta ask to help confirm..
is the wind blowing to the east?
wind north north east at 1 mph..
