Anyone who opposes the Affordable Care Act is a subhuman (Why Fry a Turkey when You can Zot Them?)

Anyone who opposes the Affordable Care Act is a subhuman. It is a great law but lying republicans are trying to destroy it. I signed up with no problem on the website. Republicans want to repeal my new insurance. Obama is a hero!

I don’t like brown recluses. I have a hole in my forearm to remember them by.

See, that's why you got told not to play that violin...

I have Popeye forearms and the spider venom digested my muscle tissue so I had a little spindly forearm, like it had been in a cast for months. The bite area ulcerated and all my muscle tissue drained right out of my arm. You could make out the individual fang holes so it wasn’t an itty-bitty.

I’m a martial arts lover and I’m used to using wooden phone poles for makiwaras...but it took six months to train my left arm back to normal again. I have a little “belly button” on my forearm now. Never saw a doctor.

The missus has a scar on her arm from a grass spider.
The bite got hot, oozed, scabbed over, and now looks like a circular rough patch.
She shrugged it off at the time.

I’ve been through Searchlight numerous times, but never felt the need to stop. For anything.

If you ever do stop and take piccies, I hope you post them!

Carnations always smell like cinnamon to me. They have VERY long stems!

"Some lilacs smell like formaldehyde to me."

You've been spending too much time in funereal pallors.

It’s the perfect hiding place for me.
Nobody will ever think to look for me there.

AI name idea multiple analytical diagnostic generational explorer, or Madge.
Starts out a clean slate, but as “she” grows and gains knowledge, she gains a bit of sarcasm as well as protectiveness of her crewman.
Smart dust might play a role in her processing abilities.

I use dust-sized building modules similar to Legos to make stuff. (Or I think about using them.)

They come in a variety of colors and capabilities. All you need is the right kind of assembler/disassembler, similar to a 3-D printer.

Been toying, on this end, with the idea of a “metastesizing artificial intelligence” after a fashion.
Not malignant, it merely is looking for someone.
Haven’t put it anywhere yet.
Heck, I’ll hand the idea off since I don’t have a good story spot for it yet.

Nanites, even ones that infest intelligent people, need to be responsive to the requirements of their hosts. The first step is damage repair and immune system boosting, then other requirements of their original design.

But they must use the intelligence of the person they’ve invaded, or they’re just grey goo.

Possibly.
Or it could have compound collaborative processing.
It gets smarter with the addition of each new speck.
These things have potential.
Perhaps there are differing “flavors” of the little snots.

If you follow my robotics laws for nanites, you’ll keep them out of intelligent biological organisms, except for the necessities of keeping body and soul together.

Simple builder nanites should be programmed to leave living biological material alone.

Medical nanites are the tricky ones. First off, they have to modify themselves, as well as the body they invade. Good fences and defenses make good neighbors.

Well, the SLAVER incident involves the medical spider EVA subverting the crew via medical nanites.
And Soames is infected with what appears to be defensive and storage nanites.
Idea being that Sireenian ships are mostly nanite smart dust with a few specialised systems in order to be able to reconfigure the ship on the fly.
he nanites are discovered on earth under the hab during construction in the impact crater.
It is during the flight from earth that a lab accident exposes Soames to the things.

Not really.
I have a natural resistance to the stuff.
Meaning I could end up in medical trouble and not know it until it is too late.
In parallel, I also have a natural resistance to anesthetics.
Dentists “love” me.
So do doctors, it takes a bit to put me down.
I’m told that redheads have this as a natural ability tacked onto the red gene.
I have red highlights that I work very hard to hide.
I don’t look “right” with red hair.
