We have a new champion of the chess world. The kid is not yet 23, looks a little like Matt Damon, and, plays endgames like a machine. Incredibly, he was able to increase his already all-time record rating during the course of the match.

the comparison between kasparov and carlsen is akin to the comparison between jack and tiger.
Carlsen maybe 22, but there are many who think he is the best player ever.

A good match...slow start (the first few games were a snooze fest) but it picked up with each round. Game 9 was spectacular.

Although having a new champion is exciting, I don’t think anyone is surprised by the outcome. I can’t figure out what Anand was thinking during most of the games...he blundered his way through defeats and draws and never seemed to give Carlsen a real run for his money. (Again, except in game 9, but his shocking knight move at the end was suicide).
