Rocket launch from Wallops Island, Virginia, about an hour from now. Good visibility from much of the eastern US. Open Ustream window at link to get live feed.
With 29 satellites it’s almost more of a shotgun than a rocket!
Station cape may might have a good view of this.
“Minotaur” seems such an odd choice for a launch vehicle! But it reminds me of laughing at the film “Role Models.”
“It’s not poison. It’s got juice in it.”
Well how did the launch go?
Launch in about 39 minutes from now as I type this reply.
FR rules, I put up their headline without alteration.
Reset to 8:15 EST
8:15 PM EST is now estimated launch time.
Thanks, I just hate the idea of such a valuable cargo being destroyed in a failed launch.
22 minutes to lift off. Live streaming video here. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nasa-tv-wallops
I just heard them say T—20 min So around 7:15 cst
Some very bright Fairfax County students built one of the satellites. From the FCPS facebook page:
As mentioned earlier today, a satellite built by students from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology will be launched into orbit today by NASA. You can watch the launch live on FCPS Red Apple Channel 21 on Cox, Comcast, and Verizon FIOS cable channels beginning at 6:30 p.m. EST, courtesy of NASA TV. If you do not have cable TV you can watch the launch on channel 21 live online by going to http://origin.eastbaymedia.com/~fcps/asx/live/live.asx. In the event that the launch is canceled due to weather, channel 21 will show its regular programming.

I absolutely LOVE countdowns. Ever since I was a kid I have loved count downs. The drama mixed with the steely calm way engineers work through their lists is just a joy to me. I really admire the people that are in the aerospace business. These are some of our finest people. To heck with some basketball playing thug, some singer or actor or even the president, these are our finest minds. I would not be the nerd I am today if not for one of the heads of JSC who told me to go a certain direction when I was in high school.
Go baby go!!!!
Wow! That one took off fast. I’m going outside to see if I can spot it.
WOW!! That thing screamed off the pad!!
That was AWESOME!!!!!
What a hoss!
Wow!! totally cool — we ran outside but didn’t see anything — it’s kinda bright here and we weren’t sure which way to look
Chuck Yeager: Must be something wrong with this ol’ Mach meter. Jumped plumb off the scale. Gone kinda screwy on me.
Jack Ridley: You go ahead and bust it, we’ll fix it. Personally, I think you’re seein’ things.
Chuck Yeager: Yeah, could be. But I’m still goin’ upstairs like a bat outta hell.
