The New England Patriots lost to the Carolina Panthers 24-20 after a controversial ending on Monday Night Football. On the final play of the game, an official threw a flag after Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly appeared to interfere with New England tight end Rob Gronkowski in the end zone. If the pass interference penalty was called, the Patriots would have had one untimed play from the one-yard line to win the game. But the officials ended up picking up the flag, declaring the game over, and running off the field without an explanation. Tom Brady was furious after the game, chasing down the officials and cursing them out in the tunnel. There was a ton of confusion about this. ESPN's in-house refereeing consultant said it wasn't pass interference, but everyone else seemed to think it was a clear penalty.

If the ball was not in the air, then I agree you could call it holding.
But, you know something? I hate inerference calls in the end zone. Half the time, they’re staged and set up by the quarterback.
The LEFT is now demanding that the New England football team change its name. The name “Patriots” is racist, homophobic, misogynistic, Islamophobic, and is demeaning to Native Americans. The name “Patriots” glorifies old white men who fought against big government and higher taxes—and wonderful government programs like prison ships in Boston Harbor.
That could be called ether pass interference or defensive holding. From the look of it, the question is, if the defensive player didn’t push and hold the receiver, could the receivers momentum be changed come back in time to make a play.
My bet is no. But it is still a penalty.
I pull for the Panthers, but am not a raving fan. That said, very few games actually come down to the last play. I did not stay up for the game, but I can pretty much rest assured that the Pats had many other opportunities during the course of the game to score and avoid this result, and also could have played defense to stop Carolina on its prior drive, but failed to do so...
Of course not. Losers hate winners.
Loser.

Turnabout is fair play...Punk! I see that I am not the only one sick of seeing the refs in the tank for the Patriots!
Typical eggplant.
Gosh ... guess football is more than a game.
Yah, GOLLY!
Funny, isn't it, that when we had 'replacement refs", blown or controversial calls were headline news on all sources. The "regular refs" somehow tend to get a pass for just as many of the same situations.
Golly ... this must be more important than world events.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Why in hell don’t you express yourself!
GEE WHIZ!
should have scored earlier in the game. It sucks but they put themselves in the position with the idiotic Talib taking stupid penalties, and turnovers.
Expecting everyone and everything to fall exactly into place for a miraculous comeback win is not a good strategy in the NFL. They are in a good position for a team with that many injuries in key positions and BB always finds a way to win.
And when you get caught doing so they generally call it holding, 5 yards/half the distance and one more down. That call would have been logical, not interference. Full disclosure: I had no dog in that hunt. Enjoyed the game, though.
